On Wiki: "Yates returned to Bristol Rovers in July 2013 as kit man and a year later combined that role with coaching. In his first season as defensive coach, Rovers gained promotion from the Conference". On Rovers' website, it just says Kit Man, although there is an up to date picture (judging by the 2015-16 training kit). Link to Staff Profiles on the OS

Steve Yates will be doing a mixture of coaching and scouting apparently.
Closing date is very soon - wonder if this means that somebody is doing the job already, and they're going through the motions?

I guess he is Just to busy to be kitman anymore I hope so. I can't be the only one of a certain age who has a lot of respect for Stevey Yates. Since they're advertising his official job title, it would be nice to throw in a comment about why that is. Non-existent PR again. My guess is the only influence the PR adviser has had was the message announcing his appointment, since when they've decided it's a non-issue and haven't bothered to talk to him.

I've been saying since the the start of last season that the club should give him the proper title of first team coach, as having him do a dual role was wasting his talent has a full time coach. I've heard from a few within the game that he's a very good defensive coach and takes charge of most of the fitness sessions. Defensively and fitness wise we have been excellent for over a year now, credit to SY, and glad he's had the kit manager title dropped.

I reckon that Steve's left BRFC to allow him time head-up a Russian-based conglomerate that intend to buy the club (at any cost) from the dreadful chairman that we presently have, and will be installed as the new chairman in due course. Topical eh, but totally inaccurate.

Guess Tom Foley will get the job unless he is the one fronting up the consortium.

I have to say I quite like the idea of kitmen getting headhunted. Clandestine meetings in Laundrette's, late night negotiations over the of quality of detergents on offer etc...

Seems like a very positive development. From the OS: Backroom Restructuring"Manager Darrell Clarke has restructured his backroom staff and handed Steve Yates a new role as Coach and Recruitment Consultant while appointing former Rovers youth team player Marco Carota as his new kit manager".

Marco would be good for a good haircut for the team as well - saves money !
