Christ that was bad! Nice to not have to stay up til the early hours to see our highlights but that made Manish, Leroy and Steve look like prime time slickers.
I felt for poor Adam Virgo, he kept on saying 'it's like you say' when no one had said anything... a sure sign of nerves and having the live audience literally stood on his toes.
Didn't like the constant changing between leagues and the health lottery in the middle of the programme was baffling.
On the plus side.... it can only get better. Maybe if we'd won 3-0 I'd have been more forgiving

It was terrible, at least the 3 mins i watched were terrible, discussing league tables after one match, banging on about MK Dons amazing start (1 match) and that women said something so riduclous i was embarrssed for her but i cant remember what it was. Drop the studio audience for starters

Solution: Bring back Football League Show!

Tacky.
League tables at the end were akin to a low budget 70s kid tv show.
Such a shame as there's def a slot for Saturday evening audience that doesn't involve dancing/factors/talent/game shows.
Such a shame, but redeeming factor: the bird's a bit tasty!

George Riley is great on FiveLive. Kelly Cates I just find irritating, she does 606 on a Sunday with Ian Wright. Thought the format was a bit odd.

I'd been looking forward to the mid-evening programme, but was amazed at the poor quality. I think the presenters were OK, but it's the format and production that need a re-think. What was the point of having a live studio audience, going to them for some fan opinions, but not being able to hear them because they weren't miked up? They didn't have anything interesting to say anyway, but it's irritating if you can see their lips moving, but only hear a faint sound. They got three fans to hold up cards with some sort of odds scrawled on them in marker pen. The camera was barely on them for long enough for an image to register on our retinas...cringeworthy. Martin Allen was asked to move towards a monitor so that he could comment on Barnet's game. He had to ask "where am I going?" and "what do you want me to say?"! In contrast to the BBC Football League Show, most of the games shown were "talked over" by the presenters, "analysing as they went". This, combined with the ludicrous concept of jumping around from division to division, made the programme almost unwatchable. Since this is a thread on Gas Guzzler, I'd better underline three positives that relate to Rovers: - Martin Allen was again very complimentary about Rovers, the manager and the fans
- The Rovers club logo was prominent in the background of the studio
- The 'ted in the background was not invited to speak.

I think our game got all of about thirty seconds of coverage, the fl show had featured games but at least the remainder got the same kinda amount of time. The league tables too, have they not heard of computer graphics? On a board that had to be turned round looked awful. Like people have said only plus is its on at a more reasonable time. Plus you can watch an hour later on +1 and there's another channel 5+24 so you can see it a day later too.

I didn't see it, but surely all the format needs is to be all the goals in each division with the tables at the end and a voice-commentary, and maybe in-depth coverage of one or two big games in each division. Like it used to be on ITV.

It was OK. It was up online quickly enough that when I staggered in at 1.30AM on Saturday night I could watch it online - that wasn't always the case with the Football League Show.
Other than that I thought it was more or less the same show with additional generic poor quality 'fan engagement'. I'd rather they ditched the fans - doesn't add anything and just wastes time. But on the other hand there was also pleasingly less pundit guff than the BBC's version did. Greatest respect to the likes of Claridge/Rosenior etc (I like most of the pundits the BBC used actually) but they're on a hiding to nothing to say anything remotely enlightening when your dealing with 72 teams. The format just doesn't lend itself to that. How the hell is Leroy Rosenior supposed to know the in depth tactical decisions, backroom shenanigans and recent history of 72 teams? The result is just a generic line or 2 which has clearly been prepared by a researcher somewhere.
I don't understand why people are moaning that we only got 30-40 seconds. It's a show where they they put on the highlights of the goals and there was only 1 goal. They continued the BBC tradition of where a team hadn't scored showing a highlight of its best attacking move. What more do you expect? A 30 minute highlights package with in depth punditry? I saw very little difference on the whole. Presumably the reason that they switch between leagues is to make sure that all the Championship fans don't just switch over after the first 20 minutes which actually makes some sense given the time slot they have. Last year as a neutral watcher of the FL Show I didn't bother with the League 1 and 2 highlights very often unless it was one of those depressingly rare occasions when t'other lot had lost.

Trying to do too much. Keep it simple with games, a bit of comment and tables at the end. LOoking at those tables was like going back into 70s, only not so good! But as was said, if we had won perhaps it wouldn't have mattered. UTG!

Steve Cotterill on Football on 5 tonight. Not a very gracious loser as we know. Unbelievable quote from him after Luke Freeman was sent off for a ridiculously high kick that connected with a Brentford players head going in for a headed clearance. "He shouldn't have put his head there". What a bell end.
