If players are not fit why play them, Easter showed no pace yesterday, albeit he or Taylor did not have any decent service but when they did manage to get the ball did nothing with it. So if Brown, Easter were not 100% fit they should not have started. Semi fit players can get found out in league football especially against an uncompromising team such as Northampton
Lines looked like the player we had before, not up for a battle, however he must have a Mansell type player alongside him to reap his qualities,
Northampton were better than us because we just played into their hand/heads and they had players who could hold the ball up whereas we just lumped it and hoped for the best. and with our very poor midfield they just won most of the second balls with ease, just like the season before last.
Let's hope this is a lesson learned and DC quickly addresses some of the issues from this game

If DC insisted on starting those players, why didn't: Locks play right back?? Leads play right wing?? Sincs partner Lines? Seems more balanced.

DC should know by now Lockyer is not a midfielder and Sinclair is not a winger and Taylor is not a natural goalscorer, Easter is not match fit and when the rest of them do not put in a shift and spend the time hoofing the ball, and JJOT, who knows were the net is, simply ghosts in to score, that to me is not ******* good enough. I thought both teams were poor and it was mainly hoof ball. I haven't seen a game where the ball bypassed midfield so often in a long time. The stats don't make good reading. We had 2 shots to their 11. It was a dire game however you want to spin it and Northampton didn't play well.

Let's hope they did because if they didn't we are in serious trouble because they were miles better than us!

Well, as I saw it, they played the long ball maybe even more than us but they did have the bigger players to latch onto those. What disappointed me most is it seemed that many of those balls were not even challenged and they had a lot of ball because of that. We seemed unable or unwilling to fight them for the hoofed balls. Easter looked like he may be protecting his knee as he didn't jump at all. It was a poor game however anyone spins it and it certainly would not encourage many of the floating fans to come again. This was the first time I felt like leaving half way through thensecond half as I felt we would not have scored had we played on all day

Hopefully DC will learn lessons from yesterday. The main lessons from my point of view is you can't play Easter & Taylor together as there is absolutely no physical threat and Sinclair playing on the left only if you've got a lead to defend. Otherwise it was what normally happens in front of a big crowd.

Should have had a penalty early in the game. Would have totally changed the game. League refs are clearly no better.

DC got away with bad selections and tactics from the start last year because of poor opposition. Looked like John Ward tactics yesterday, hoof the the ball to 2 short strikers and easy pickings for the centre half. Will need to wise up this year and get it right from the start. Possibly should have said cheerio to 3 or 4 players at the end of last season and brought in better.

Just terrible. Get DC out. Not a FL manager.

It was a dreadful game and will have cost us several hundred paying supporters a week unless thing improve.
Our failures to use footballing skills on the pitch were as crystal clear on Saturday as they were was before the penalties at Wembley.
Both teams played with a woeful lack of talent. But, Northampton were more determined than Rovers and that raises awkward questions about DC's ability to ramp up the squad's enthusiasm and the application of the abilities that they do possess.

we are a newly promoted conference side ....it makes me laugh the stick Trolls got and he got us into league one ....some people need to manage their expectations...we barely beat teams like Altrincham and Welling ...and now we are playing streetwise experienced full time clubs

We played into thier hands yesterday, two giants at centre back and we hoof the ball up to our strikers. Dissapointing but i'm sure DC will learn and encourage team to get the ball on the ground and know it about. Got to play to our own strengths and yesterday was all a bit too similar to 2 seasons ago. We have bit of pace now with our new signings and Ellis, we have to use these guys.

Looking forward to Kaid Mohamed signing next week. Yep. The players that got us relegated last time are exactly what we need.

***TAKING TIME OUT***
Blinking well done, people. We are still talking about event, a whole 24 hour after the finished event.
And largely, getting on.
We'll never all agree, but this forum has made strides since when I first joined.
If we can pull together in adversity as fans, maybe we can as a club? Just saying..
As you were...

As you were, two seasons ago, the performance against Northampton was oh so reminiscent of then, DC hopefully will get it right, only the first game and a good wake up call for him.
