Will we get a decision on Friday or will Proudlove keep us waiting for weeks again? Always seems odd to me the original judge decides if an Appeal can be heard or not!

Even if this appeal is granted and is successful all that means is that the contract is still 'live', that's one hurdle got over, but we are still a country mile away from thinking about enforcement of the contract or compensation.
And even if the contract were to be enforced, UWE is reported to cost a lot more than £30m, so does anyone know where the rest of the money is coming from?

That seems odd, bordering on confused, misleading, or plain wrong. They don't explain or elaborate on it. I wonder where they got it from and what prompted them to throw it in. Isn't the whole point whether the contract stands or not? Has someone at the club been briefing them about a hidden agenda? Is it hinting they would go for a compromise deal with Sainsbury's if given leave to drag this out any further? Also 'Bristol UWE has said they want to examine the small print of the court ruling before making any further comment.' I thought UWE had already commented that they were still on board. What difference would the detail (it was all in a standard font size) of the judgement make: either it gives BRFC £30 million or it doesn't. Well done Evening Post. Another triumph of ill-written nonsense.

Oh goody, this should see off the On The Cheap thread and boost the bags under Higgs's eyes.

Sounds worryingly like it came from the same book of 'Trite Obfuscations to Cover Up Something Significant' as 'dotting the Is and crossing the Ts'.

Another triumph of ill-written nonsense. Really is the quality we've all come to expect from the Post. The way I see it is that Sainsburys made the point in the hearing that even if they were in breach they would be allowed to terminate the contract and Rovers would be due damages. However the judge found that to not be the case. (sections 151-155 of the judgment)

It would be nice if the club could put out a factual statement on the official site, rather than us having to read the local press and then try to work out if they know what they're talking about.
I remember years and years ago we were told the official site was the place to go for news. Yeah, right. Keep us all wondering and waiting BRFC - we're not important.

And even if the contract were to be enforced, UWE is reported to cost a lot more than £30m, so does anyone know where the rest of the money is coming from? Where is it reported to cost a 'lot' more than £30m? I thought the court case had established the build cost to be £31.7m.

Higgs' writ mentioned increases in costs due to delays also.
Or is there now a scaled down / incomplete version of the stadium planned?

Surely the first hurdle is to overcome Friday's hearing, then win the Appeal, then worry about enforcing the contract/compensation. There seems little point the discussing the latter for 20 pages until we get past the first two stages and then Sainsbury's then contest the Appeal decision.

Don't think Sainsbury can contest a decision to grant an appeal....they have to have their time in court again

Come on why give the Samaritans more work.

On this occasion it's us against Mrs Justice Proudfoot. Add her to the long list. Meanwhile the the grass continues to grow on that field at UWE.
