1 Lines 2 Clarke J 3 Montano 4 Preston 5 Greenslade 6 Lucas
that is SIX in my mind ...
200 lines for you and back to school for you I must not swear I must not swear I must not swear then 100 lines I must learn to add up
You can't add players you've already got. We've added two to the squad we finished last season with. Think Mike is struggling to grasp that very, very simple concept.

the bottom line for me is this team deserves a fair chance to shine in league 2,,,take taylor and harrison for me they have the potential along with easter to be a real force up front and i would rather give them a run than sign a moderate league 2 striker.

We don't need an overhaul. We saw that almost every single season between 2001 and 2014 and what did we achieve?!
This squad (with the few additions made) can more than compete in league 2. Momentum following promotion is key, particularly with a squad that hasn't been unecceserily dismantled.
Crack on DC, the superb work continues.

In previous seasons (I'm not as privileged as o p with 50years), I would've very much agreed with o p.
This season, I am very content we have secured most of the squad (I personally would have preferred Monkey to stay, although Bodin may been seen as some kind of replacement) as I think collectively they'll be able to compete in league 2.
Of course, only time will tell.
I just think we've got a great team spirit, and to add too many personnel may dissipate this. So, add a little at a time, maybe a loan or two, and build as and when need it.
I like a different approach rather than mad rush, neurotic, gotta make wholesale signings. I think we've got the balance right..

The main reason I think most of us, that are thinking along these lines, are only going on the very little information that has come out of the club and manager. I wasn't at the recent Q& A but I am told he said he expected, not just wanted, expected another 3 players in before the season opener. How is wondering why we haven't seen that yet somehow being negative ?

With respect KP, the Gaffer said that he expected ONE more permanent signing and would then look to dip into the loan market. bristolroverssc.co.uk/2015/07/17/gaffer-talks/

Darryl has said himself he needs a winger and he is 100% correct. With Mansell injured we are also light in the centre of midfield the same can be said at centre back with both lockyer and McChrystal injured. Mildy worries me and with Puddy alledgely needing a groin operation, Goalkeeper is a concern. We are thank-fully okay up front with plenty of goal threat. In Darryl we trust, for me currently equals top half of div 2. UTG

Perhaps we are feeling that with all the activity and signings of teams like Cambridge, Mansfield, Notts Co. and others we think we should be signing a lot more, especially as we have just come up from a division below. Sometimes when you are not doing anything people see this as a negative and start to worry about not signing as many as others. But.... I am not as worried as previous years because| 1. The players we have signed are good quality players who will actually be part of and improve the starting 11. We are not just making signings for the sake of it. 2. Of all the signings in this division Chris Lines could well be the best signing of all signings. We all thought throughout last season we needed more creativity and when he came in it was the final piece of the jigsaw. I think our midfield is strong for this division. 3. James Clarke appears to be a good player, versatile in defence with a good attitude. probably a typical DC signing. With our strong defence he may well improve it and give good cover if not in the team. 4. Montano did well in Div 2 with Oldham and he could do very well. I suspect he knows this is his last chance and he will want to take it. With the good attitudes of the rest around him they will keep him on track.....I hope! 5. The youngsters, Broome, Greenslade, Lucas, Thomas and Bodin (?) give a bit more cover. for once it's good to see our youngsters coming through. They have to be given a chance, if they're good enough then great, if not, well they have to be given a chance and DC needs to find out if they are and the only way to do that is play them in League 2 matches. give them a chance. without these youngsters our squad is a bit thin but with them it looks bigger and stronger. 6. DC has said he will bring in some loanees at some point. This will make it stronger. We are more or less where DC said we would be, bring in 4/5 signings and look at loanees. We have 3 with added youngsters so a bit of a gap but not much. I do expect some loanees in next few weeks. So, I understand the concern others have but the quality we have signed has improved our team and they will go into a team with a good structure who know how we play and are adaptable to different systems. The teams where loads of new players have been signed will have to get used to the system and god knows how they will play together. It's not perfect but with the limited budget and other constraints I would rather be us than lots of other teams in this league. UTG!

When he said that I think he meant Lines, Clarke, Montano and perhaps Bodin as the 3-4. He has got his starting squad, but will get loanees in to cover for injury or loss of form. On what I've seen, I'm not unhappy at this stage.

I didn't think Puddy's injury was that serious, but I am an optimist. We are going to have a good season.

The last ore season game I went to was at Clevedon and we had a player on trial that scored 2 & looked great but award let him go. I just hope DC can keep the players upbeat and with their minds off of the court nonsense. Whatever we say, they will be affected by all the uncertainty as they will want to plan their own future too.
