Ok,
Have spoken to the family and the funeral will be at 11:30 at Westerleigh crematorium on the 12th August and all that knew or supported the team and Bob are welcome. Please feel free to post a new thread. His family appreciate the messages of support they have had.
Julian
Edit
I have just put up a separate post so that it doesn't get lost in the others. Apologies for the confusion

Bobby Jones is one of my all time Rovers favourites and it was with great sadness that I heard he has passed away. Along with Harold he linked the 1950's team with the Don Megson 1973/74 promotion team. I know that many, like me, who started following Rovers in the early 1960's will agree that Bobby was part of a magical era for us when football fanaticism still took precedence over birds and booze ! The floodlit league cup ties at Eastville with 20 000 + crowds were really something special and possibly the greatest night of all was when Bobby scored 2 goals in the victory over Newcastle United in 1970. In his testimonial game programme there are many different tributes to Bobby but the common theme is of his great sportsmanship. He played in every forward position for Rovers as well as in midfield and, at the end of his career, as a full back. His outstanding qualities were his quickness of foot and quickness of thought which made him an exciting player to watch. But, because of the Rovers ethos, we don't gloss over our failings and pretend we are perfect because we know that our strength is acknowledging individual weaknesses and doing our best, as a team, to overcome them. If Harold was a little "delicate" in the tackle then Bobby was sometimes prone to being a bit greedy with the ball which could be frustrating at times. I laughed at Wycombe Gas's comment that Bobby was so fast he sometimes forgot to take the ball with him. It's true but it doesn't lessen our affection for Bobby or dampen the wonderful memories we have of him. Rest in peace Bobby.

Great post Swiss, the irony being that his eldest son was a Newcastle fan !

Bobs family have asked not to send flowers and would not give me the details of the funeral directors. They asked that if anyone felt a need to do something then give to a charity. No specific charity was given. Sorry but that is what they asked me to say
