we were outplayed but a slick at times Reading side. They were not as good as Arsenal but took their chances when presented. Lines, Taylor and Montano were our best players. Good to see the youngsters introduced Malpass, Little, Kilgour and Greenslade. Did not see much in Bodin and Harrison and Blissett were both poor.

Was a harsh result, we were the better team. A draw would have been fair. Not the way I saw it. Their control of the ball was streets ahead of ours. We were chasing shadows for much of the game, but they never stopped running in an effort to compete.. And Montano did look impressive.

Didn't go to the game so can't comment on the team however it doesnt take a genius to see there has not been much change from last season and that team is nowhere near good enough to challenge this season. Still a good winger short and a good striker and central midfielder to challenge in the middle and this is IMO the absolute minimum we need.

Strange Steve, I didn't go last night either, but unlike you, I am going to wait until the start of the season. I reckon we have enough in sheer spirit to get us up there somewhere, I do not expect us to be struggling. We have a new winger, Lines signed, Sinclair and Easter fit....fills some of these positions?

Good run out, think we played well and created some lovely moves at times. The last half hour we had a very young back line that more than held their own that was pleasing.

Yes some good Rovers play. The players looks sharp and motivated overall. Montano, Lines, Taylor and JE took the eye in the first half. Second half wasn't so good. Sinclair had a difficult role / game. Rovers burst into their pen area several times but failed to get their shots away. Need to improve that before 8th Aug.
Funniest moment: Fan "Ferdinand, you're sh*t" Ferdinand's reply "I know"
Strangest moment: Man in crowd "Ali is a Jew lover" Strangest response: Another man in crowd " you'll get arrested" (If anyone gets arrested for that (strange) comment, then I'm leaving. Great Britain has become Stalin Britain.)

They could knock it around much better than us, but we had the better of the game and were putting Reading under pressure for large parts of the game. It was more even in the second half as we brought on a few kids, but they still competed well.

Parkes good again last night.
Lines distribution and dead ball delivery, again, brilliant.
I like Hannah Montano the more i see him. He tracks back well and isn't afraid to put in a tackle. Was adjudged a foul on one occasion that I thought was unfair.
Again the best strike pair for me Taylor / Easter although Taylor/Ellis was quite good link up.
JClarke was ok, just he got caught in possession in dangerous place. Nothing came of it, just a flag as potential problem.
I thought Milds made some decent saves.
Good run out but maybe in a 10minute period Reading got a bit over competitive for a friendly!

Good run out but maybe in a 10minute period Reading got a bit over competitive for a friendly! And their goal celebrations were astonishing. You`d have thought it was the play off final to get into the Premiership.
