Little un on t'other forum says he heard about a guy called Jeremy Wray as a possible buyer of our club.
Having googled him, it seems he was a former chairman of Swindon who was quite popular with the fans, but who got pushed out because he grossly overspent the owners money.
Not sure what to make of all that. We have been linked with some dodgy people in the recent past, I hope this guy, if it's true, is not in that category. Mind you, we already have problems with an owner who grossly overspends, and gets nowhere, so I hope this isn't true.
Anyone know anything about this guy other than what is on google?

I think that as 99.9% of FL clubs make a loss most owners spend too much.

BBC reported on 15th October 2012 that "Jeremy Wray has ended his four-year association with Swindon Town after being replaced as chairman". Jeremy Wray "orchestrated the appointment of Paolo Di Canio, who lead [sic] the club to the League Two title". Di Canio "was quick to praise Wray ... describing him as "the best chairman a manager could have". www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19944989More recently, "the former Swindon Town chairman made a formal offer on Birmingham City", as reported by the Birmingham Mail in December 2014. "FORMER Swindon Town chairman Jeremy Wray has made a formal offer for Blues with a pledge of a £25 million a year budget – but warned that ‘internal bickering’ could kill the bid. The UK investment manager has joined forces with former Newcastle United director Steve Hayward to throw down the gauntlet to Blues’ Chinese owners with an offer for the St Andrew’s club". Mr Wray told the Birmingham Mail that a previous bid ... scuppered by ‘internal political issues’ – and warned his investors would walk away if Blues were facing a relegation dogfight". www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/new-bid-blues-pledge-25-8215586On 31st March 2015: "Receivers have received five indicative non-binding offers from Independent Third Parties in relation to possible acquisition of an interest in the Company and/or Birmingham City Plc". In May 2015, The Birmingham Mail reported that "Mr Wray and his associates from Soccer Management Worldwide Limited are the UK group in advanced talks...to buy a stake in Birmingham City". "Mr Wray confirmed to the Birmingham Mail that Soccer Management Worldwide Limited are the preferred bidder and are currently involved in negotiations with BIHL [owners of the Blues]". www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/birmingham-city-takeover-former-swindon-7190753But last month (June 2015) they announced that Trillion Trophy Asia Ltd has become the preferred bidder. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33268019

'' Grossly overspent eh?'' Well, at least he appears to be well qualified for the long haul here, always providing that he passes the Nick Higgs/BoD scrutiny test that is. I just hope that it's his own money that he's spending, should the enquiry ever get off the ground that is.
