I was talking to my neighbour about the court case, and he said that in the budget it was mentioned that steps were being taken to stop the large supermarkets from "banking" land. I didn't take any notice of the budget as I know that whatever it is it will be worse for me. But he was pretty adamant about it, and said "about time too"

Luckily for Sainsburys they don't want a piece of BS7.

No great expert on the Budget - but by definition to "bank" the land they have got to own it first. As they don't own it it is highly irrelevant to our situation with them.

The Labour party were looking to stop builders 'banking' land, but they are irrelevant.

The change of opening hours on Sunday trading for larger stores will help though

The use of land in this country is the foremost cause of poverty. Get building and we can create a boom, income, cheaper housing etc. Nowt to do with min wages, benefits, corp profits, etc. we have an archaic and regressive planning process for business development and private land. China built 2000km of railway in. 3 years, hs2 takes 20 years for 150 miles. Too many committees and too much power with special interest groups like trash.
