A very brave thing to do in Cardiff. My last time there, I got split up from the group I was with and don't mind saying I was bricking it. 99/2000 last game. Not seen fans go so mental, they were going through Police and Horses and the hate was palpable. I ended up knocking on a total strangers door, basically begged to be give sanctuary. Lovely lady let me stay until the crowd had dispersed and made my way to the station. Hate to say it but I was s**t scared and did what I needed to do. True story. Not been back since. Not a place I would readily want to revisit

We all use the term I 5h1t myself but I was passing wind like I couldn't stop. If those geezers has got to me then I was in for an intensive care kicking at the very least. i don't feel a need to go to Cardiff anymore, not even with the new ground. Had I had the capacity to remember the address then I would be sending that dear Lady a Xmas card & present every year. Thank God for the kindness of strangers and for the strong and sweet cuppa she made me. I have never shared this publicly before, felt it would belittle me. Jeez, I thought my time was done.

Not a place I would readily want to revisit Been to Cardiff many times with Rovers and it used to be pretty tasty at times, but the worst was when three of us went to watch Man u play there,we were in with the utd fans and it was quite leary but then they started singing Munich at the utd fans who responded with the chant Abervan and from then on the football was irrelevant to most, the hatred was unreal. Well after the final whistle we all piled out on the streets and trying to get to the station when hundreds of Cardiff fans came charging at us,a utd fan next to me pulled out a knife and shouted no c..t runs, the next thing I knew he and all the others ran leaving me and me mates,so we quickly hid in a newsagents that was handy and watched the Blues fans charge after them. We waited for it to calm down, which wasn't long and left, heading back to the station, what we saw walking back put me off fighting at football, cars turned over, garden walls kicked over windows smashed, couples stood in their front gardens crying at the damage the utd fans had done as they passed along this street and it went on all the way down this street which was a fair length. They ran from the Cardiff fans but smashed up peoples homes and cars, never seen vandalism like it before or since at footy At the station there was a huge mob of Cardiff fans but we never had any colours on and made it inside ok, I have never seen so many scared fans and beat up fans as were inside that station

Pretty sure that made the national papers as I seem to remember the photos of the carnage. Its enough ugh to put anyone off of that side of football. It's one thing being young and having the bravado to plan stuff but it's totally different when you are in the middle of it. I would love to think those days are gone but I don't think they are. I believe we will see more of it as it seems there is an upsurge in Football related violence & disorder. Thanks for sharing your story. Sounds like you were as lucky as me.
