If only the crowd would sing some of those verses, would be so much better than the chorus sang over and over again and at break neck speed

It happened on the concourse of a few away games last year! Merry Gasheads getting the cider down them offering an extended version of goodnight Irene.
As you say, would sound awesome if it just got carried on at the slower pace from the entire blackthorn end, during the game.

I think it would be great to have some celebrity singer give a pre-match rendition at big games with the whole crowd joining in with the chorus.

Firstly yes get someone down to sing it with the crowd, lets face it how many of our local singers will ever perform in front of 7,000 people, and if possible this could be the last item in the lead up to the game, rather than have the same run out music. We could have it as a sort of show case for our singers with a different one each game. It just needs a bit of advertising. I am sure people would jump at the chance.
Secondly have the lyrics printed in the programmes. It is after all "our theme song"

You could have an opera singer one week and a hard rock band the next. Pity Hendrix is dead...

It's an anthem. Nothing gets my goosebumps up like it. It's the greatest anthem of any club or nation. Irene before God Save the Queen.
I love supporting a club with a unique anthem. When we're 2-0 up in tough game, when we're 2-0 down....when it comes out, it's only US who can sing it. It's ours.

It's a tuneless dirge, but its our tuneless dirge! Tuneless dirge? Ban him. Followed by immediate execution by firing squad.

He's right it is a dirge, a negative dirge. Perhaps that's why it suits us.

We sing the best version, end of.
If the version at Wembley that Grimsbury branch fans paid to listen to, didn't emotionally move you, you must have a heart of stone.
And with various versions accompanied with a light show last season, our version offers more versitility and atmosphere worthy of a Worthy Farm booking..
