I lived in The Gorbals for a bit, dead pleasant now. Gentrified? Ha no not at all. Just knocked down the old tenement buildings and replaced them with low rise flats. They have a Greggs which is a key sign it hasn't been gentrified.

Belle Vue, Doncaster. The town's an absolute hole, full of shiny faced people who all look similar and think shouting "Yaarkshire" on repeat equals atmosphere. Not with Rovers but I did the Anfield tour. Never been in fear for my safety at 10.30 on a weekday morning before. The Anfield area is a ghost town, full only of those who can't afford to leave. Every person in the street staring at you because they don't recognise you. All LFC's fault that for buying up properties and leaving them to rot in order to smoke out the last few residents so they can build a bigger stand. Agree. Old Doncaster Belle Vue. Truly awful ground, they were running it down at end and I saw it last season it was used. People unfriendly, like walking into the twilight zone, glad to get out. I was working near lincoln in 84 and best mate was from donny, during the miners strike we went up for to night games as donny were heading for promotion. If my memory serves me right they lost both games, reading and hartlepool i think, only games they lost at home all season. It was a dump but found most of the locals friendly but nearly got a kicking in car park after reading game when local lads heard me talking to mate, close call

I lived in Doncaster for 7 years not far from Belle Vue and yes it was a dump and people most unfriendly. Also lived in Bradistan and Valley Parade is in pretty bad surroundings too. many of Yorkshire grounds are in crap areas.

What's this hate of Newport , it's a lovely place.....well compared to Pontypool, Newbridge, Crosskeys, Risca, Llanhilleth and various other ex coal mining communities in the Valleys... lol ! Mr Bridge WASH your mouth out! Sorry but having visited Newport last year I can honestly say it is a dump! Give me Rhondda, Cynon, Taff everyday, however I will give Risca.

I guess you haven't been through Blackwood, Ystrad Mynach or Maesycwmmer recently either. They're building a dual carriageway from Gilwern to Tredegar that must provide some of the most difficult civil engineering construction in a long time so if you know Clydach/Black Rock, Brynmawr, Ebbw Vale and Tredegar you'll soon be able to pass them by a lot quicker on your way to Merthyr Tydfil, Aberdare, Hirwaun and Glynneath, all places you'll also want to pass quickly by.....lol ! They seem to have been digging up Newport for the last 25 years and still haven't decided what they really want to do with it. I try and keep to the Monmouthshire and Breconshire Canal for outdoor pleasure and shop in Cwmbran.
