Well if they did criticise, they'll be skating on thin ice...

It would double as a great concert venue too.........Imagine seeing Motorhead turn it up to 11 and play in this? (after having a few pints in the Welly)

The council should buy the Mem and develop the area for multi-community use. They could build a re-cycling centre (tick box for the Greens), a Roma resettlement centre (tick box for the Greens), a Grand Mosque (tick box for the multi-culturists) and a small cow-sh1t powered power plant (tick box for the Greens). What could they possibly object to?

The Thunderdome in MK (pictured in the article) is a great example of how an ice rink should be.
Plenty of seats with open, unobstructed viewing.
The problem with the old Bristol ice rink was it was limited to recreational skating because it was so cramped, not enough seating, and poor sight-lines.
Bristol needs a new ice rink, but it needs to be right or it will fail again: around 3000 seats, with clear views, so that competitions and ice hockey and other events can be held there.

The funny thing is its not in "Bristol" but South Glos so its technically not going to benefit Bristol

But an Ice Rink can be used for other things that are, well, not Ice related. For example, last weekend here in Frankfurt we had the Darts World Cup....held in the Eisporthalle (translation: Ice Sports Hall).
