Goalkeepers -
Mildenhall will definitely be on his way out as he is keen on taking up a coaching role (not sure whether that is at Rovers or elsewhere). Keep Will Puddy as he is still fairly young and has showed great promise in the conference. Bring in Sam Russell who was released from FGR.
Defenders -
Make Leadbitter first choice RB with Lockyer as back up. Parkes and McChrystal the first choice CB pair with Lockyer also fighting for a spot there. Lee Brown to stay first choice LB. Possible back up needed at LB but not essential, Trotman to stay as he has Football League pedigree.
Midfielders -
Retain Lines at all costs and keep him in the centre with Mansell. Sinclair to fight for his place in CM or possibility play wide right. Monkhouse on the left. Keep Balanta, Ollie Clarke and Jake Gosling. Sign Nathan Arnold who has recently been released from his parent club after being on loan at Grimsby.
See Arnold play-off goals here:
Strikers -
Main strikers to be Matty Taylor, Ellis Harrison and Jermaine Easter, with Lenell John-Lewis to sign from Grimsby to sign on a permanent deal. I would like to see Blissett stay and get his chance in League 2, but maybe he wouldn't quite do it, so possibly loan him out to another League 2 club or top conference team. Ellis Harrison must be kept. Although, I can really see a championship side like Birmingham coming in for him.
Transfer Targets (List):
Sam Russell (Free Agent - ex FGR) Chris Lines (Port Vale) Nathan Arnold (Free Agent - was on loan at Grimsby) Lenell John-Lewis (Grimsby)

I thought Mildy wanted to go into the media.
Also, you have to wonder why Arnold can't get in the Cambridge team.

Ollie Clarke hasn't impressed me for a while now, so maybe a place we could improve on...

Ok. New rb cover for leadbetter. Trotman out, despite being great. Lockyer as cover for cb. He's a cb and has been nothing but exceptional when played there, even 2 years ago in l2.
If Parkes is off, retain trotman.
New Wingers needed, Dawson excluded. Sorry Ollie C but you lose the ball too much, possibly bin.

I'm actually really interested to see what DC does. Every signing has improved us. TOTAL faith in DC.

I read 'drop Lockyer' and stopped reading. Well that's strange. You clearly didn't read 'drop Lockyer' because I didn't say that.

DC: So It's Daniel at Right back with Tom and Mark in the middle. TL: So, I'm dropped, Boss? DC: No Tommy, you're not dropped. TL: Thanks Gaffer, I thought you'd dropped me. Sorry, Boss. Now where's the bench?

Why the Grimsby front men love in - hardly hurt us at all in 3 matches!
Very keen to retain the main spine of Sunday's XI.
New keeper, cover at CH, 2 widemen, striker and possibly central midfielder.
Probably release Mildenhall, Trotman & Balanta. Clark & Gosling depending on their wages might keep as cover. Sinclair keep if his injury is sorted. Send Blissett on loan to a good Conference side to continue his education.

I'd keep them all, we have a wee squad comparatively to previous years and with 3 or 4 additions we could challenge. I like the way the original poster has only scouted players we've seen in our last two outings.

I don't think anyone should be released apart from Balanta & possibly Blissett on a 6 month loan to somewhere like Torquay or Aldershot, but in DC's opinion he may like Balanta and want to keep him. We need a slightly bigger squad with the 7 sub rule & the extra cup games, but i still think we need to remember that the key is leaving enough budget for quality loan signings something we will definitely do better in now we are back in the football league, where players are happy to join & clubs happy to loan to. 3 Permanent signings needed IMO, centre midfield (Lines), 2 x Right footed wingers one a marquee signing and the other a young lad with a decent pedigree.

From what I can remember, LJL was excellent in the home game v Grimsby and caused problems on Sunday, scoring a goal inside 3 minutes. I've also seen Grimsby at least 5 times this season and Arnold has been a real threat. Puddy Leadbitter Parkes Macca Brown Arnold Lines Mansell Monkhouse Harrison Taylor Bench: Russell Lockyer Sinclair Easter LJL .. Would be very happy if this is how we lined up for the first game of the season.

The thing to remember with Balanta and Blissett they both didn't have full time pre-seasons before last season. Getting up to that standard of fitness is very hard when you're doing different types of training on top. I'm quite happy with our four strikers that are contracted at the moment and feel with a good pre-season behind him Balanta could be an asset as well.
Balanta takes great credit for stepping up and probably scoring the biggest pressure penalty of the lot straight after Pitman had missed.
