A Exeter friend of mine has begged me to make a case to bring back Danny Coles, he said look at their forum to see why, here are a few extracts;
He just doesn't help himself. It's patently obvious he doesn't care what anyone thinks of him as long as he's picking up his cheque at the end of every week.
What a horrible man. Not a proper chap. Utter buffoon off the pitch, utter buffoon on it. The sooner we are rid of this liability the better. Those of you reading this who are club officials, have a word for goodness sake, the idiot is an embarrassment to everyone connected with Exeter City.
The '**** off you ****' was to a 14 year old Exeter fan. Surely the club should be looking at sacking him for gross misconduct for this? Centre back is a position we have an excess of players anyway. Get rid of him.
The guy is clearly a grade A bellllenddd.
What a ******. I would have thought it is almost certainly a sackable offence. Get a screen grab and send it to the Echo. Makes me ashamed to think he wears the red and white never mind has the captains armband. Be more forgivable if he was actually any good. Knock up a poll Hants on whether he should be sacked - might find something most of us agree on.

He's never been any different. S**thead mate of mine once saw him in the carpark at Trashton when he was playing there. Mate (who was a young teen) asks "Are you Danny Coles?" to be met with the response "F*** Off". What a class act. What a grade A c**t.

It amuses me that fans abuse players all day long but run off crying when they get anything back. Don't get me wrong, footballers should have more sense than to take the bait from supporters and Coles is way out of line, particularly as the comment made to him was a comment that he himself had made about another player.

Well after reading 10 pages of Exeters fans web www.exeweb.com/forums/showthread.php?54332-Danny-Coles I am so glad we were rid of him and so glad we don't have a player so hated as he is by the Exeter fans as he is ... He's their captain as well. His wife's postings re their daughter starving if he gets sacked is equally cringeworthy.

I knew Danny when my son was with him at City and still see his father who is a nice guy and very different so maybe you're right it's the football environment he keeps but there are many many footballers who are very different in their attitudes to Danny so maybe that isn't an excuse

Seems to be the case with a lot of lower division footballers who swagger around like they made it and everyone else is beneath them. Danny, you play for Exeter City mate not Real Madrid.

Swift and decisive action from Exeter City. I wonder if we have any social media guidelines?
Exeter captain Danny Coles has apologised for letting 'everyone down' by swearing at the club's supporters on Twitter.
The former Bristol Rovers centre-back, who has since deleted his account on the social networking site, was reacting to comments from several City fans during England's 2-1 World Cup defeat to Uruguay on Thursday evening.
The Grecians confirmed they will be investigating the matter internally and published a statement from their apologetic skipper.
"I would like to apologise unreservedly for my comments which appeared on Twitter last night," he said.
"I am not going to make any excuses, nor plead any mitigating circumstances: my behaviour was completely inappropriate and I am totally ashamed of my actions.
"As the captain of Exeter City FC, I know I should set a good example to the supporters, the players and the wider football community and in breaching the club's social media guidelines I have let everyone down and embarrassed myself and the club, which prides itself on its family values.
"I have deleted my Twitter account and will be making sure that I impress upon the rest of the squad the importance of realising what damage ill-judged remarks on social media can do.
"Most importantly, as a family man I would be disgusted if someone spoke to one of my children in the manner I addressed a fan last night and I will be contacting the young lad directly in order to apologise personally."

It's not altogether Danny's fault, after he was ''schooled'' south of the river, by the other mob. No but seriously, a disgraceful episode in what appears to be ongoing behavioural problems. Didn't he invite one of our supporters into the car park when he was with us, to sort out their differences? But I will say in his defence that when he was playing for BRFC, they were holding publicity events around north Bristol (in Bristol & West offices, I think), and my wife asked him if he would have his photo taken with my grandson. He not only agreed, but was a perfect gentleman to all and sundry. On that day at least, he was a perfect ambassador for his club.
