Just thought I'd fill some time before the weekend.
Here's a challenge. Name your all time worst Gas XI.
Only 1 rule, don't pick any of the current squad cos that's just mean. Not that you could really.
GK: Scott Bevan. Bit harsh I guess given his issues, but so tall and so poor under the high ball. Honourable mention to Nick Culkin though.
RB: Carl Regan. Not short on ability, just lazy.
CB: Mark Foran. 6 foot 8 and cannot head the ball.
CB: Gary Kenneth. A large, immobile man. McGhee at his mad worst.
LB: Robbie Ryan. Nuff said.
RM: Brian Cash. Came on, could not trap a vCard all, came off again. I thought he was a competition winner.
CM: Rob Quinn. The invisible man! May not have touched the ball
CM: Craig Stanley. Utterly devoid of talent. Hard worker, but so, so, so poor.
LM: I'm gonna shoehorn Justin Richards into midfield as we have had a million s**t strikers. Another Ollie gem from the aftermath of 99/00.
ST: Lee Matthews. Fat, lazy, crocked, s**thead.
ST: Mickey Evans. Used us for a cheap move back to Inbred Argyle. Utter b'stard.
Manager: Poor old Thommo. Buckle was a scuba but even he didn't play 5 centre backs in one game.

Buckle was a scuba but even he didn't play 5 centre backs in one game. Was it Lee Mathews who scored at Macclesfield and the Rovers supporters started singing Sh!thead is a Gashead? Not sure he ever really won over the crowd. You can't have a worst 11 without including Alvin Bubb, the one and only thing I remember him doing was diving for a penalty against (then lowly) Yeovil. Thommo may have played 5 centre backs, but as far as I know he never played a centre back as a centre forward (Adam Virgo). Worst manager, by a country mile, Graydon, if we went a goal down he would take off an attacker and put another defender on.

I forgot about Bubb. I swear I saw him run from touchline to touchline nowhere near the ball once.
Blizzard would get a place on the bench, which is apt!

We had a striker called Ansah Owusu in the 2001 relegation season. Im pretty sure if he'd played every game between then and now he still wouldn't have scored.
I think Sam Oji is the worst centre half Ive ever seen in my time watching.

Lee Matthews never scored for Rovers. He hit the post. I was there on a Tuesday night. That was the night when they closed the terrace and made us all pay £2 extra for a seat. Lewis scored, it's all coming back now, we lost by our favourate score that season, 1-2. That's me back in therapy for at least a fortnight!

Sorry for amnesia lane, maybe a good therapist will remind you they were the good old days?!! God help us..

It was around the time Agogo couldn't buy a goal, he did OK that night but still no goal and then Haldane came on for him and scored within about a minute.

Luke Daniels Carl Reagan Brian Gayle Jarel Ifil Steve Morgan Mark Wright David Lee Harry Pell Andy Bond Alvin Bubb Justin Richards Don't think you're far off there mate (although I've never seen Gayle and Morgan), but am absolutely shocked you can't think of a worse midfielder in all the time you've been watching than Harry Pell. I really rated him!

Luke Daniels Carl Reagan Brian Gayle Jarel Ifil Steve Morgan Mark Wright David Lee Harry Pell Andy Bond Alvin Bubb Justin Richards The same Harry Pell who played well for Eastleigh when they gave us a good duffing up a couple of months ago? There are plenty to chose from, no need to worry about them playing in the same position as Pell, Rovers' managers for the last decade seem to draw lots to decide who plays where in any given game, so why not replace Harry with Sonny Parker, Alexandre Jeannin, Ryan Williams, John Beswetherick, Tobi Jinadu or even Bo Henricksen? Edit. Looking at that list of players, we could start by replacing Harry with all 6 of my suggestions at the same time and we would get progressively better with each one that was taken off.

Although I agree that Pell did nothing bad to warrant being in such a shameful XI, I should point out he's done little since and has just been released by eastleigh a few months after they took him.
