I like the fact that no team should have a guaranteed number 1 keeper, this season showed that keeper selection is earned on performance. I'm fine with Puddy & Mildy staying and fighting it out for a place in the starting XI, if Mildy goes then Ryan Clarke or another keeper in there 30s with plenty of games on there CV would be a welcome addition.

Sorry to quote my own post but I thought it was quite ironic considering what happened on Sunday. I reckon DC read this thread. I thought it was really nice to see Mildy and Puddy have a big man hug after the game yesterday. It was nothing to do with ability, it was a psychological move by DC. Mildy almost got a hand to one of them I think that was my point, Mildy having more physical presence has psychological affect.

Did anyone see how mildy celebrated the penalty shootout? My little lad is a goalie and was looking out for him on TV but he is not seen. He does not run up to mansell and is simply missing.

Let's hope we keep both of them and that they are challenging each other for the shirt, surely that is the best for Rovers. My preference is Mildy no.1, you cannot criticise Puddy though other than for Dover. We perhaps should be thanking Puddy for Dover; 3 more matches, most nail biting match I have been to for the playoff final, £500,000 in the bank , some great positive pr, very funny DC social media stuff which kept the national press interested and finally ; the worst attended victory parade ever.
On reflection I think I do want to dance with Will Puddy.

Some have said at 36 he's too old.
About the prime age for many gk.
humans reflexes and eyesight etc don't usually slow till they hit 40....even then it's a gradual descent. Ronnie is winning and challenging for world titles in late 30s. Your puff goes, but how much puff do you need as a gk? Unless you're a Rasta, you don't need puff as a gk!

Puddy a great keeper? How do you work that out? 3 goals, inc the dodgy Dover goal conceded in 8 games since his return to the side suggests he's a decent goalie at this level, particularly when Mildenhall let in 4 goals in the previous 2 games! Just think if DC had kept faith in Puddy then we'd be most likely already promoted. I agree, if DC has made any mistakes this season then the only major one for me was dropping Puddy when he didn't deserve it after the Woking game, that said its good to have healthy competition for places, the only difference between the two I believe is experience and physical stature, if you could add those two to Puddy I doubt we could keep him!

Goalkeepers do generally tend to have a longer playing life than outfield players. Perhaps it's because they largely miss the rough and tumble of the game, or because they aren't expected to be quite so physical?
