Cracking away day last night.
I might fill in the details another time, but very 'interesting' getting tickets, and found a brilliant pub and footpath up to the ground, through a wood. Quite a mad little trip, especially back down in the dark.
Lovely food (I realise some will disagree), brilliant view - haven't been so close to the action for years, cops/stewards seemed ok. All quite relaxed really. As it should be!
Most importantly we showed there is no need to treat us like animals. The 40-50 on the west terrace seemed to be fine and FGR fans didn't really bat an eye at them, even though the food and toilets were behind them, so regular 'contact' was guaranteed.
The sad thing of course is that NOTHING can replace the feeling of being with your own fans in a packed terrace, so it was sad that many of us were not given that chance, whilst 1,500 spaces went begging. Shame.
Most gasheads just wanted to watch the game like the game is supposed to be watched. Live. Next to your fans. And next to opposite fans, who are normal human beings like you are. I'm not trying to make the TV fans feel bad, but football really does need to be experienced in reality.
Only other negative really is how a brilliant club like FGR can be such thugs on the pitch. It negates a lot of the good ideas they have off the pitch.
Personally I think Ady Pennock and Richard Hill have both got it wrong, and have taken the wrong approach. They do say a fool and his money are soon parted.
As an aside- Sadly I also have to add that the Police and FGR re still perpetuating 'the Alamo' mentality that was so wrong about the away leg.
"Police advice has also highlighted that supporters should not drink in Bristol city centre or on Gloucester Road on the day of the game."
