No away goals means I would take a tight 0-0 or 1-1, hoping though that we get out of the blocks and give their young defence something to worry about. We are a completely different attacking threat now compared to when we played them last.

Confident, with a little doubt and I can't get it out of my head.

My concern is that in the Alfreton game even though we scored 7, they exposed our midfield on several occasions where a better team would certainly have made more of it. I'd take a draw but I think we should go out for the win.

It must have been an illusion when I saw Parks run, un opposed, through the midfield, set up the pass and cross and then score, unopposed from the cross.
No, if we play like that with Chris Lines playing as he did, I am confident against any team in this league from what I have witnessed. Over to you DC...please don't go back and do a "Dover" Please!!!

Nervous, but I feel like a defeat by the odd goal wouldn't be a disaster and would take a draw now. I don't like the idea of coming back to the Mem with something to defend.

Well we should be confident because if you look at it objectively our run down the stretch has been superb and we have a fantastic away record. Also, it's not as though the players are dealing with the immediate crushing disappointment of blowing their promotion chance. We did that at Dover and already had a week to get over it. Alfreton should have at least had the effect of blowing those cobwebs away. So I feel like we should be going into the game with the right attitude. No doubt FGR will be crazily up for it though - good case for this being the biggest game in their history.
Unlike Pess, I'd want a lead going to the Mem. I could see the crowd getting very nervous and jumpy the longer we went not ahead in the tie.

It's 5:30am here, I'm heading into work early so I can finish in time for Kick off. I'm an eternal Gas pessimist as a rule but for some reason I'm feeling somewhat positive that the boys will do a job tonight. As stated before, we are a different animal now and I can see us bringing a draw back to the Mem, and then a sweet 2-0 win to send us off to London. Which as the footballing gods will have it, sees me back in England for my holiday. I'm bringing my Fiancé with me and she has never seen the Gas so I want her first experience to be a Wembley invasion. COYB

Seconded. If we don`t go up this season, that Dover game is going to haunt me for a long long time.

I am a pessimist and have a gut feeling we will trip up here.
I was always worried about facing FGR or Eastleigh as they have taken 4 points off us this season. I know this means nothing now but surely is a slight psychological advantage knowing we havent beaten them.
I like the lad Frear on the wing for them, if we can keep him quiet we have a chance of a positive result tonight.
I hear David Pipe may be playing in central midfield, there is a sending off waiting to happen if we are clever!!

Just woke up after night shift last night. My lift goes in three hours.
I'm not sure the previous results are much to go on, we last played each other in October. We're a much different side to then. It may make them more confident but I don't think it makes us less so.
No idea how to feel though. I've seen every play off game we've ever played apart from 1989 and Crewe away in 95 so have had the lot - walks in the park, cagey draws and deep, deep disappointment.
Sod it. I reckon we'll win tonight.

I wasn't commenting on our attacking prowess, that was great; merely an observation of how our midfield was exposed more than once after conceding possession. I'm probably the only one looking at the negative space in what was mostly a pretty picture.

Long time reader, first time poster. I live in Dallas, Texas, the game kicks off here at 1.45pm.
From what i've read and seen of the team this year i'm feeling very confident that the boys will get a result today; 2 or 3 nil. I was living in Bristol the last time we were in the playoffs and remember when we went to Lincoln and put 5 past them in the away leg so a repeat of that would be just lovely.
Up the gas!

The only thing exposed in the first twenty against Alfreton was Lockyer a better side would of punished us the number of times their winger got behind him.

Are you feeling confident about tonight? Or are you bricking it like me? Bricking it! Really hope we can put wipe the floor with Dale Vince and his vergetarian green energy happy clappy hippies so we can relax in the second leg... I fear a tense 0-0 draw though at best. UTG

feeling weird.
are we really in the play-offs?
sunny outside, but football to watch.
a play-off before other lges have even finished their season.
playing a self-confessed village team? (not being arrogant; I just think it is interesting how well FGR have done and how badly we have - first team ever to win the FA Vase and later be in the FA Trophy final)
another big game on sunday.
then either one more match or nothing until august.
weird.
end of the season always is.

Welcome Texasgas, great to hear from you. One of the best away matches I've experienced at Lincoln. I'm lucky to have got a ticket for tonight, I hope it goes down as a memory to savour in years to come. Where I live in South Wales the weather is just brightening up so hopefully will give the pitch a bit of time to dry out over in Stroud country. Great to have your support... UTG !

The only thing exposed in the first twenty against Alfreton was Lockyer a better side would of punished us the number of times their winger got behind him. don't want to be negative, but that was totally true. I was towards right hand side of Blackthorn so it was right infront of my eyes. that guy (no.10) was probably their best player though and Lockyer is one of our slowest player. Very disappointed that DC seems to have gone off leadbitter. Very disappointed we didn;t do our home work on their setup/number 10 and play Leadbitter from the start to cope with his pace. Leads is a bit raw but his pace gets him out of sticky situations. We have no-one else like him.
