GREEN VINCE TALKS [Gloucester Echo]
Mixed with the joy and relief of securing a play-offs place is a sense of justice being done at Forest Green Rovers.
Excitement is building at the New Lawn ahead of their two-legged derby clash with Bristol Rovers, which was secured thanks to a scoreless draw against Dover Athletic on the final day.
The Nailsworth club were handicapped by a three-point deduction, imposed after they fielded the ineligible Luke Oliver at Southport the opening-day win at Southport.
Chairman Dale Vince led two unsuccessful appeals against the Conference’s decision not to award a replay, but in the end the penalty was irrelevant – without it Rovers would still have finished fifth behind Eastleigh on goals scored.
Vince said: “I’m really pleased we did despite the three-point deduction because I think the Conference were wrong to impose it.
“I think the admin problem wasn’t ours anyway, and not ordering a replay was just a big mistake. There was a lot wrong with that so it’s great to have made it.
“It was a real kick in the teeth for the players, and we lived with it for six months while we appealed and exhausted all our options before the points finally came off.
“But it’s water under the bridge now and the boys have done the job.”
Vince’s green energy company Ecotricity rescued Forest Green from financial ruin in September 2010, since when he has made no secret of his ambition to lead the club into League Two and beyond.
Ady Pennock’s side will be underdogs against Bristol Rovers, who missed out the Vanarama Conference title by a single point and hammered Alfreton Town 7-0 on Saturday.
But Vince is taking confidence from the two regular league meetings this term – the teams drew 1-1 in August before a famous 1-0 win for the village outfit at the Memorial Stadium in October.
He said: “I’m really chuffed for all the boys, Ady and his team and all the fans.
****“It’s been a long road. We have a shot now and I really fancy us to beat Bristol Rovers.******
“We’ve got a good record against them this season, taking four points off them, so we’ll take that again in the semi-final.”

But would you have him instead of our Cock? I wouldn't. I mean we wouldn't be playing in blue and white for a start.

It will be without doubt two very tense games, but Rovers are a very different side to the one FGR bullied off of the ball at the Mem
Also it has become very clear that our players now rise to the occasion and the opposition once under the cosh - cave in!!
Lets not be cocky, but confident - that we can win over the next two games, and then on to the third - whom ever that might be.
I really do not like this Green fellow - is it just me?

It's a lot easier to be cocky when you've done your best to limit the roar of the opposition fans to the sound of 750 voices. If he's as confident as he says he is then all the support in the world for our boys wouldn't matter. His actions are speaking much louder than his words are. He says he's confident, but the ticket allocation says he needs all the advantages he can get.

I wonder if Danny Coles will make the starting line-up for them? The last time that I looked he was a bit in and out of the FGR team, and I still have nightmares about him scoring against us earlier this season.

Reckon they will play him for the psychological impact his bullying tactics have on our players. He should have been sent off for kicking our player in the back when on the ground at their place. Horrible person and I would love 12k fans laugh him out the Mem next Sunday - let's see who he wants to fight in the carpark than

I remember the away game where he was either constantly leaning on or pulling players off balance away from sight of the officials and the more we barracked him the more he enjoyed it. Someone should have a word with Ellis about it as the last thing we want is Ellis having a swing or kick at him and getting sent off, because one thing is for sure if Coles is playing he'll target an inexperienced young player like Ellis.

Totally agree with Bridgeman - But I think DC will have the measure of Mr Coles and Co.
