Hi all
Just finished my write up for the Racing and Football Outlook - waiting on which game will be live so have had to cover both in advance.
As part of the preview, I have to look at the stats, and thought it's worth saying that away from home, Gateshead have scored at least once against every top 5 team - they haven't played Barnet yet of course.
Obviously they netted twice against Rovers, and got 2 at Grimsby as recently as early April. The Heed also scored in a 1-1 draw at FGR and twice at Eastleigh early doors.
Interestingly it doesn't stop there either - they also scored in draws at Macclesfield and Halifax.
Whilst I'm not saying they'll go to the Hive and win, if they're in the mood, it's clear Gateshead could cause trouble to anyone in the top ten, and their manager has been less than amused with their recent demise, so he'll probably be on their case. I would also think it'll be a physical game, given Gateshead's disciplinary record, so some of what happens will be reliant on them keeping 11 men on the field for the duration.
May not be much solace after yesterday, but there's no reason to think Gateshead won't score at the Hive if they decide to turn up and have a go.

It would be hilarious if we'd done our bit and Barnet were winning in the 96th minute, everyone has their head in their hands, only for Gateshead to score a 97th minute equaliser.

We have hope. If Barnet had won yesterday we'd have no hope

Rankine will score for The Heed but it's more about their ability to concede. They've let in 60 compared to Rovers' 34.

They have 12 players out injured. Manager moaning he has had to play the same 11 lately and another got injured yesterday. Anything can happen as it's the last game.
There team is not the team that played at the mem though.

True enough - they have been hit by injuries and suspensions in the last few months but the draw at Grimsby was in early April, when the Mariners had all to play for so don't rule Gateshead out of causing Barnet a few headaches along the way, that's all I'm saying!

In that case, I expect a red card in the first ten minutes for Gateshead player after giving away a penalty for punching Akinde in the face!

to be fair, given Barnet's track record of reds and pens, and Gateshead's reputation recently, betting on a penalty being awarded or a red card or both would be a sensible call in this particular fixture! A pen being awarded is usually around 5/2 and a red card the same! I will have a look at who's refereeing in due course!

From their last 7 away games(since March 3rd) ..they have lost 3...all to teams down south ( Woking, Braintree & Dover)
Therefore I suggest we pay for them to fly down on the Thursday...
They have drawn with Halifax and Grimsby, so a draw may be possible.....

Another interesting stat apart from the goals against top five teams is that their defeat against FGR is the first time they have suffered back to back defeats all season.................Barnet will need to be on their toes
