Puddy needs to be dropped. Mildenhall made a bad mistake vs Eastleigh, he was dropped. Puddy MAY have just cost us the title. From where I was standing it looked as if all he needed to do was punch it behind for a corner. I will never know why he tried to catch it, he MUST know he's tiny (for a GK)
Drop or no drop?

Do we drop everyone else who has made a mistake/error of judgement?

No drop. My first reaction was to blame Puddy for losing us the title but you have to take into account the mistakes every other player has made over the course of the whole season. If he doesn't redeem himself next week then Mildy in for the play offs. I was on a major downer last night but WTF promotion is still in our own hands. I think there will be less pressure on the team under these circumstances for the final game and if Barnet don't slip up, we can beat anyone in the playoffs. We need to keep the faith and not let our disappointment put more pressure on the players.

I'd drop Balanta for being an utter fraud of a player. I'd risk it and give Bell-Baggie a go.

Do we drop everyone else who has made a mistake/error of judgement? Problem with Puddy is he makes a mistake most games (and he's not played that many times). We've got away with it up until now. He's probably made as many mistakes as Mildenhall in a fraction of the number of games played

Perhaps we should drop Lines as he didn't stop the cross coming in.

Perhaps we should drop Lines as he didn't stop the cross coming in. I'm saying Puddy messed up what was an easy save. Just needed to punch it behind. Can you blame the rest of the team for not punching it over the bar?

If you live by the sword you die by the sword.
DC was clear about not being afraid to drop people. I support the general idea behind that, but istm it's ok to make an exception for keepers. I have no problem with a manager who favours a keeper he's been playing regularly, coz it's such an important position.
I would have been sympathetic to DC had he kept Mildy in even after his mistakes, as long as he made it clear that keepers were an exception. But now he's set the precedent, and unless Mildy's having a mare in training, I don't see how he can keep Puddy in the team.

Didn't see the game yesterday but overall we have huffed and puffed a bit with our wins lately. Does kind of make you concerned we may not be up to the task. Never been convinced that we have had that "killer instinct " to win and close a game. Always concerned that there is a fragility about us - as was shown yesterday.

I get the impression that Puddy plays to the edge of the box better than Mildenhall this seems to give the defence the confidence to play further upfield.

Will Reading drop Federici? No, he's been their player of the season. Not really a comparison.

Mildenhall to be restored to line-up without a doubt. Puddy is a good squad player, comes across as a decent guy and has played his part but yesterday has been coming. He's got away with one too many before the Dover game and it's finally caught up with us. Having a solid assured goalkeeper with a presence is massive for any team and whilst Mildenhall hasn't enjoyed his greatest season, he fits that bill much more than Puddy. The difference being his mistakes have generally been uncharacteristic.

Tough call but I personally believe Mildenhall is a better keeper overall than Puddy and should be the man to start for the playoffs so he should also play next week to give him match practice.

Who wouldn't you drop for a mistake? You could drop everybody yesterday because they all made mistakes. I personally think Mildenhall is the better keeper when playing well and does have the added height BUT he was not dropped after one mistake-he was dropped after two games where he was at fault or partly at fault for three goals out of the four. Puddy has let in three goals in the last six games and until I see that goal yesterday again I will not say he was to blame as some Dover fans who were a lot closer than us says he was fouled. if that is the case then the person to blame is the referee because he has a clear view. Puddy caught every ball cleanly yesterday and was faultless until the goal. Why should he have punched it over the bar when he was catching everything? if he was confident of catching it and was fouled then he cannot be blamed. If people are right and he made a bad mistake then fair enough but lets be sure. The problem as I see it all season is that some players get allowed a run of games ,others don't. It is impossible to assess a player on one game. Players need four or five games on the trot to get match fitness. Puddy has played the last six games and conceded three goals- hardly grounds for dropping him.

Mildenhall: Mistake against Eastleigh: 2 mistakes at Dartford: I mistake at Halifax shall I go on? If these players didn't make mistakes they would be playing at a higher level
