The Sportsman is s**t and only deadbeats go there. The Anchor is much better and we should have that on our shirts instead.

Or the Gloucester. Or the Lazy Dog. Anywhere except the bloody Sportsman, please! The Sportsman already struggles to serve the deadbeat customers it gets. Huge queues and loads of hassle. And the food is Wetherspoon's discards. And so is the beer. Stay away!

Except that Steve at the Anchor doesn't actually like customers And presumably neither they or the other pubs mentioned above didn't pay £1,200 to have a chance of winning the 1883 shirt sponsor draw

It wasn't criticism of the Sportsman that surprised me, it's not for everyone, but I'm pleased that a local business won the raffle. But the Anchor is pish.

I think Stu is being his usual hilarious self, he doesn't want to encourage people to The Sportsmen so he can enjoy his thirteen pre-match pizzas in piece.
I've been to The Anchor the last few games, I agree it's pretty cack and not particularly cheap but it's got the lunchtime game on the telly and it's the only place within a ten minute walk of the ground you're likely to get a table/not much of a queue.

I think astafjevs is just trying to ensure that he doesn't have to queue for too long in The Sportsman from now on...
