BRISTOL ROVERS – TICKET NEWSThere are still hundreds of home and away tickets available for Saturday’s home match against Bristol Rovers – and the club are meeting with Police tomorrow to see if there is any flexibility on the all-ticket status. With our opponents battling for promotion, and considering their well-documented away followings this season, Dover Athletic acted on police advice and made this weekend’s fixture an all-ticket match. We had originally been advised by Bristol Rovers that they would comfortably sell their full allocation plus any extra we could let them have – however, disappointing sales figures are concerning. We have been advised that Bristol Rovers still have over 600 tickets available, and we have sold 550 tickets for the home end (plus our several hundred season ticket holders) – meaning that, as it stands, the ground would be nowhere near the capacity we were expecting. We are holding a meeting with the local Police tomorrow (Wednesday) to discuss whether there is any flexibility on the game’s all-ticket status, to allow as many supporters as possible to see our final match at Crabble this season. Further details will be communicated through doverathletic.com once the meeting has taken place, and we stress that – as it stands – the match is still all-ticket, so the only way for home fans to currently ensure they are in attendance is to purchase a ticket from our club office between 9.30am and 4.30pm this week. The club office is accessible through the players tunnel. Bristol Rovers fans should contact their club’s ticket office to secure an away ticket. www.doverathletic.com/index.php?p=news&id=3023I think that Barnet's result against Halifax is having an effect at our end!

I think that Barnet's result against Halifax is having an effect at our end! true, BUT circa 2,000 fans will still be a cracking amount, especially for what for most/many will be a 400 mile round trip. It's only now considered 'disappointing' because expectations rose so high I think a few are keeping their powder (and wallets) dry for possible play-off tickets. It won't be a cheap deal if we have 3 more games to get tkts for. I hope we don't get that.

I'm one of those. after forking out already for next years season ticket already and with the potential for a semi final and day at Wembley i just couldnt afford to do Dover aswell!

You're right much easier on a tablet but a mobile phone does do the job. Lost your humourous streak? Thought you were getting it back after the other day, strange being wrong.

Check the link 2 posts above yours, which indicates the Kent Police have refused the request to remove the all-ticket restriction. Interesting, but not surprising that it is the Police that make this decision. It was undoubtedly the right decision to make the game all ticket at the time, but didn't take into account the dynamic of Barnet and Rovers still winning - so the fixture is marginally less attractive to Gasheads than it would have been if we had overhauled Barnet. As there is no online or phone sales for home fans, I do feel a bit sorry for Dover fans who live away from the locality. As an exile myself, it would be pretty much impossible to get tickets for all ticket fixtures if Rovers did not offer online and telephone bookings. We'll still take a load and I'd imagine that it will still be Dover's highest league gate of the season (accepting the Palace gate was a lot more).

As Rovers tickets are still available on general sale and such low numbers of Dover tickets have been sold, it seems silly to me insist on all-ticket for home fans.
What's the worst that could happen? Rovers sell out and a couple of hundred go in the nearly-empty home end?

"Rovers sell out and a couple of hundred go in the nearly-empty home end?" is precisely what the police don't want, but it is all a bit ridiculous considering that a fair proportion of Conference games are non-segregated. It begs the question, why are Rovers (and Grimsby / Lincoln) fans treated differently?

Everyone seems to be selling their tickets They're going to regret it if Barnet lose or draw and we win on Saturday but economics may well be playing a part and if you don't have an income that allows you to indulge your life style then quite sensibly you have to make the right decision.
