I live in Australia and have a great mate who is about to turn 50 and has been a mad Gas fan for all of those years. I want to get a him a piece of Rovers memorabilia, ideally from 1965, but anything that would have some significance to a Rovers fan (e.g. signed shirt, ball, etc.) Would anyone have any ideas where I can get my hands on something like this? Because I'm in Sydney, my searches have been limited to the internet and haven't managed to come up with anything to date. Any suggestions and ideas would be greatly appreciated. Cheers in advance.

All my old programs are in the UK but I'll get my son to see what I have from the 60's era.

Look on e bay uk,you can find Rovers programmes from most years quite cheap and postage wouldn't be too expensive,or a 60s enamel badge. Doug Hillard sports shop in Fishponds road are selling 'Retro Rovers' t/shirts sweatshirts, hats polos etc with the old ( and proper) Rovers club crest from the 60s / 70s....you would think the club would do this but no the go ahead director in charge of retail thinks that "Retro is old fashioned" apparently.

Great Rovers book called Newspaper Headlines Bristol Rovers A History from 1913. It covers all Rovers major games for every year as Newspaper cuttings like a scrap book - brilliant concept as the papers are full of social history nostalgia. Its cuttings go right up to 2011 until Rovers thumping of AFC Totton - oh for a 6-1 win tomorrow!! I loved this book as a present as I started watching Rovers in 1966 and as I said as its all newspaper pages it shows what was happened around the country with other teams as well.

Get him an Ian Cryer print of Bristol Rovers Eastville stadium. Circa early 1960's. Like me it will remind him of his formative years watching the Rovers at Eastville. I live in Auckland and have one up in my hallway, I look at it everyday it's fkin brilliant. A thousand great memories ,he will love it. Rovers till i die. NZ Gas

I have a Bristol Rovers On this day book by Stephen Byrne with lists everyday of the year and lists events that happened on that day since the day we formed like : Monday 2nd April 1934 : "Despite recalling Doug Lewis and Jack Havelock, Rovers drew a league game 0 - 0 at Exeter City in front of 10,000 crowd" Quite happy for you to have this book if you want.... only stipulation is you pay for delivery.... including me

Another option would be to get a framed print from the era. I suspect your best bet is Allan Marshall's photograhy: www.flickr.com/photos/alan_spain/ I guess you'd have to get in touch with Allan as he owns the copyright to the images.

I think they were originally a limited edition, but I am sure more were released later. There was one on EBay not long ago for $10. Failing that I can personally recommend a night out at the Pink Pussycat in KingsCross.
