Has 29 goals this season, but noone has come in for him? We don't know this. Not every club makes enquiries in the public domain. However, the transformation of possibly one of the worst/laziest players that ever put on the quarters, into a 30 goal a season striker is quite remarkable. Although I suspect, like many, that Barnet's penalty record is suspect, Allen has certainly got the most out of the player.

Has 29 goals this season, but noone has come in for him? He has always been a decent non league player, the gulf to the football league found him out.

The fact that teams who go up to L2 don't seem to struggle in their first season kind of suggests that there isn't a gulf? Cambridge are stuggling 7 points ahead of Cheltenham with a much better goal difference, hardly suggests that they are struggling to bridge a 'gulf' in class. Cheltenham have won 1 of their last 10 games, so with 8 to play, it's quite likely, even if Cambridge didn't get another point this season, they wouldn't get relegated

Teams do well who go up into league mainly I would of thought because they can attract better players as they can pay better wages.

Played for Crawley, Dagenham and Portsmouth after us. In his last 47 league games he scored 1 goal. He might have changed as a player but some are probably put off by that.

If there's anything I've learned this season, it's that the 'there's no gulf between conference & league 2' thing is a complete and utter myth.

Usually the momentum of a successful side keeps going for a season or two, the Gulf appears when that momentum drops off and they don't have the right infrastructure or backing from the board, then it all starts to fall apart and they drop out of or down the leagues again. I reckon about 80% of players in a top of the table side could hold their own in any league above, they might not sparkle or stand out,but do a job.
As for Akinde, a friend of mine managed him when he was younger, reckoned he had it all as well as a good attitude, they really thought he was going to be the next big thing, problem was they couldn't get him to put it all together at the same time, so was a bit of an enigma. But looks like he will have a good career at this level, and has certainly done an amazing job this season at Barnet, but people in football talk and I guess no one really wants to take the chance on him at a higher level with money tight and all that!

If the side we have now was in league 2, we would definitely be in the top 10. Our problem has been scoring and DC looks to me to have finally sorted that. It also looks to me that the whole squad want to play for, and very much care for, the club. No O Tooles in the squad.

Akinde never really had a chance with us...
The Red side got under too many skins with their calls of 'Agent Akinde' and the usual terrace moaners joined in... the lad didn't score and the more the pressure increased.
I go back to about his fourth game with us ... Swindon away I think it was ... he had a direct shot on goal from the six yard box and Swindons goalie somehow got something on it and it went wide.
I still maintain that had he scored at that moment our whole world might have been so so different.
Lets all be honest for a moment .... you can moan about him all you like but if he was wearing the Quarters this season we would have been celebrating promotion already.

McChrystal had him in his pocket at the Mem.
That's good enough for me.
Much rather have an Easter egg than A kinde(r) Surprise!

Any criticism of the Akinde that is playing for Barnet this season is just jealousy because his goalscoring record speaks for itself even without the penalties and it just isn't this season as he did score a lot of goals last season as well which was why Barnet signed him. Will he do it next season in League 2? Who knows but I would definitely jump at the chance of signing him if we went up and he was available. Lets put it this way..Blissett or Akinde,,Its a no brainer and that is with total respect to both players.

Akinde needs Conference level defenders who dive in rather than higher quality defenders who shepherd him away from goal and play a bit deeper to stop him getting a run at goal. This is why he is lethal to the weaker sides in this division. Horses for courses.

Every player has strength and weakness and fair play to your management strategy for getting the best out of him. He has been a,handful for everyone this season and undoubtedly has been key to success which helps you rightly sit on top the table. I still prefer Easter though, he oozes class and elegance, but that's just me.
