My nephews were given free tickets from their school for tomorrows game for the South stand. When they normally watch Rovers they watch the game in the Blackthorn end with me.
Do you know if they would be able to exchange their ticket at the ground or at the club shop for the Blackthorn end?
Yes, I will contact the club shop tomorrow but im asking here if anyone already knows the answer and yes I know its no longer called the Blackthorn end but I still call it that anyway.
Thanks in advance.

However if you go to the Match day ticket booth and explain I'm sure they would allow you to swap to the South Stand if you want to be with them, they are usually pretty helpful there. Good luck

Yes, I will contact the club shop tomorrow Good idea, as you will have a better chance of an exchange if you contact the club shop early in the day, rather than turning up and asking in the hour or two before the match.

I know there free tickets but price wise it's cheaper for a kid to go in the Blackthorn end than the south stand so your asking for a downgrade, which i would imagine the club would be okay with, I've always found the ticket staff friendly and flexible with any problems, if the Blackthorn end is not sold out then it would be very harsh to deny a ticket exchange.

Well I now have the answer!
I just phoned the club shop and a nice friendly lady answered however its bad news. They said they CANNOT exchange the tickets.
They said those in our group who already have tickets for the Blackthorn can exchange for the South stand. But we CANNOT exchange the 3 kids tickets for the South stand for the Blackthorn end. Seems stupid to me but no point making a fuss. Its not their fault.
Looks like the kids will be staying home and missing out instead. There is a fair few of in our group in the Blackthorn and trying to get them all to exchange when they dont want to go in the South stand will be very hard to do with so short notice of time involved.
Its a shame they couldnt help as Blackthorn end isnt anywhere near to being sold out. Oh well. Im not that surprised. It was more in hope really that the club would help and maybe secure 3 new gasheads.

Can I get this right the club give FREE tickets for the South Stand (always the least busy part of the ground) & say no to swapping for the Blackthorn end but you say no to swapping your Blackthorn ticket for the South Stand and it's the club in the wrong? Pity you couldn't put yourself out for ONE game so those kids could watch the match.

Pity you couldn't put yourself out for ONE game so those kids could watch the match. Obviously you cant get this right. 1) I havent blamed the club at all. I havent said they are wrong. I even said it aint their fault. I even said the lady on the phone was friendly. I didnt have a bad word against her. 2) I have said in comments above that there is loads of us in our party who already have tickets for the Blackthorn end. How are we ALL suppose to exchange our tickets in such short notice when most of us dont even live in Bristol and will be meeting up like we usually do right up to kick off time. 3) Lets say we did manage to exchange our tickets for the South stand, we cant have seats near the kids seats anyway as all the seats around them have also been gievn away as complimentary and therefore deemed unavailable, so we would all be sitting away from them anyway. 4) The kids were not originally going anyway. They are not that keen on football. But they were given the tickets from their school only yesterday and we thought it would be nice for them to come too and potentially make 3 new gasheads. As its impossible for us to exchange our tickets for the South stand to be with them, I explained the situation to the club shop and unfortunately we are not allowed to exchange the kids tickets from the South stand to join the rest of us in the Blackthorn end. Now the kids are not fussed about going. This is not a dig at you CGH but its amazing how things are put in black and white and is simple to follow but somehow it gets easily twisted into something else. Hope you understand the situation now. Its no ones fault, its just all unfortunate thats all. Its not as if the Blackthorn end is sold out. It is literally as simple as moving 3 kids who would be on their own from 1 stand to joining their family/party into another stand. They cant do it then fair enough. Its a shame but I expected it though.

The South Stand has been sold out, iirc, for the last few games. Seems a bit odd giving away free tickets for it, to people who aren't guaranteed to come anyway.

So there is a big group of you in the Blackthorn, it only takes one of you to sit with your nephews. Do your big group all have to hold hands in the Blackthorn? 3. South Stand is rarely full so I doubt that they will force you to sit in your allocated seat. If they did just walk out with your nephews & join us in the West Enclousure, you can freely walk in with South Stand tickets. Ask nicely & I'm sure we will make a suitable space for you & your nephews 4. I think you are just making excuses why you won't change your regular habits for ONE match to bring your nephews to the game. Sorry but it's great that the club giveaway tickets to local schools but how far to they have to bendover backwards to please everyone?

I think you are just making excuses why you won't change your regular habits for ONE match to bring your nephews to the game. Sorry but it's great that the club giveaway tickets to local schools but how far to they have to bendover backwards to please everyone? 1) Thats your opinion, but its wrong. 2) We all want to be together, do you not get that? I suppose you dont have family or friends, I can see why by your comments. I feel sorry for you. As stated in previous comments (you have selective reading obviously) we can exchange our tickets to go in the South stand but we cant have seats next to the kids. Its pretty boring having to explain this more than once to you. How can I or any one in our party exchange our ticket to sit with the kids (as you say) when we are told we cant sit by them as all the seats have been given out already. 3) See number 2. And you want us to exchange our ticket to another stand and still not be with the kids and if it doesnt work out you then want us to walk out and move into another stand? Are you retarded or something??? 4) Your opinion but again that is wrong, along with everything else you have said. Its nothing to do with you anyway. I asked a question, I got an answer. Done. I then speak to club shop and report it back on here to let those interested what the outcome was. You seem to be making more fuss about this than me. I think you need chillax. The kids aint bothered either. There is no issue. Its just a shame its worked out this way. Now re-insert you head back in your ass where it came from and move along. Your comments to me above deserved that from me and im sure you wouldnt have been so saracastic and mouthy face to face. You're just a keyboard warrior and a bad one at that. Pathetic. Oh and I didnt say it wasnt a good thing what the club has done in giving free tickets. And im not asking the club to bend over for us or for anyone. I only asked it they would allow 3 kids to exchange their tickets to be with their family. Dont ask you dont get. They said no. Fair enough. It is a shame though, but thats for us. Im done now with this topic. Reply if you like but I certainly wont be reading it and you will only be making a bigger twat of yourself anyways. So go ahead.

Come on Peeps, let's stop arguing. The problem with the written word is that it is often misinterpreted.
I think it's great that the club gives out free tickets to children, it must help ensure the next generation of fan. Sorry it didn't work out for you utg. Perhaps next time there will be a way to get you all together and ensure that the youngsters get hooked.

Don't the club provide a ticket for an adult to sit with the kids?
Just a thought!?

Ignoring all the silliness - it is a bit odd that the club expects kids to sit in a different stand to their responsible adult. Don't you think?

Ignoring all the silliness - it is a bit odd that the club expects kids to sit in a different stand to their responsible adult. Don't you think? I suppose that as the children's tickets were complimentary courtesy of BRFC, then the adults ticket would also have to be complimentary as well if they were to watch the match together. But as the children's tickets were obtained through their school, is it possible that they may well be a part of an organised trip? It all seems a bit unfortunate to me, that the best efforts of the club should be misconstrued.

Agreed it could be that these are intended to be used as part of organised trips, but even organised trips would need a responsible adult - how is this sorted at the moment? I assume there must be a satisfactory way of sorting this, as its been going on for years.
The original poster's issue could just be one of those things that is put to BSS, as a free and painless way of making the free tickets even more valuable. After all, a free ticket that is impractical to take is not a free ticket at all.
I must say I don't understand CountyGroundHotel's rather aggressive, 'like it or lump it' attitude - I'm sure that Rovers would appreciate the feedback on how to make a good thing even better at no cost.

When tickets are given to schools, the schools are expected to give out tickets to a suitable number of 'responsible adults', normally teachers and parents, who are expected to chaperone the kids. I've done this several times with my local school, so I guess UTG could have asked the school if they had any tickets if he wanted one with the kids. I tried to change mine to a Dribuild enclosure ticket (where I normally stand) when the school had more adults than they needed, but they wouldn't do that either. Still let's not argue, let's hope the three lads come again!

The only difference is that you have to show a ticket to go through to the South Stand at the gate at the far end of the West Stand but if say you didn't bother to go through that gate and went in the West Enclosure instead you could all be together.
