Always followed his career since seeing him from an early bout on the Adrian Stone Whitchurch night..
Good luck to any local talent, especially Lee..

I'd love the fight to be staged in this country, and ideally in Bristol, but where's the venue likely to be? Barring Bristol's Colston Hall which hasn't been used as a boxing venue for years now, and most likely wouldn't generate the necessary revenue, we're down to the O2 or one of the new(ish) arenas in Manchester, Sheffield etc. If only George Ferguson had been able to produce the proposed Bristol Arena in time, that would have been ideal. But neither the Whitchurch Sports Centre or the Brunel Sports Academy will do for a World Championship fight . . . obviously. I suppose the main question to be answered is whether or not the British public, and more importantly the major promoters see this fight as a ''money maker.'' If they do, then it has every chance of being staged in the UK.
But as Lee is quoted in the story as saying "the Japanese have pot-loads of money, so while it would be good to get the fight on over here, the likelihood is that I will probably have to go to Japan,'' then that is possibly the realistic outcome.
In any event, the very best of luck to Lee Haskins come summertime.

*INTERIM World Title.
Main IBF belt holder is Randy Caballero, who is currently out injured, so this is effectively a chance for Lee to get to the front of the queue, rather than win the world title.
Still decent news and long overdue, given that Lee has already beaten two other British fighters who have won the full title in recent years.

I remember seeing him at the mem - he's a tiny little bloke. I wouldn't want to be on the end of one of his punches tho. Good luck Lee

Still decent news and long overdue, given that Lee has already beaten two other British fighters who have won the full title in recent years. The fact is that Lee is, unfortunately, not seen as an exciting fighter so he had had an awful time getting the fights that he truly deserves. The 3 main boxing bodies have not been realistic in placement for him, in their rankings so Lee has had to keep busy in taking risky fights. The recent Velasquez fight could have derailed everything but it shows the mettle of the Lockleaze Pit Bull in that he ducks no one which is unlike McDonnell and Boothe, both have been beaten by him but have had world titles. Lee has the ability to make many boxers very frustrated but his KO % is not great. The boxing world is a dirty and very corrupt one. Eddie Hearn has now signed a deal with Bristol Boxing and I am hoping that Lee Haskins now had the financial clout behind him to get not just one title shot. Right now, the golden Goose is Lee Selby and it must be hard to see the Sanigars give him so much support and timr. There are some fantastic fighters in Bristol and Wales. Look out for Craig Kennedy and Alex Hughes in the immediate future. There are many others with great potential.

Interesting post KP, I've often wondered if boxing is as shady as perceived behind the scenes. Good luck to Lee Haskins.

Just because he's a Lockleaze lad doesn't necessarily mean he's Rovers , I dont know him on a personal level but what I do know is he doesn't give a f**k for Rovers or City because football isn't his thing.

I remember seeing him at a home game he must've been a guest because in his own words he hasn't any allegiance to either Bristol club , I heard him say on the interview on that Subs bench , made in Bristol tv programme , Sanigar on the other hand but then we all know that .
