Over last seven matches (to take into the next seven matches) the form reads:
(no disrespect to other teams, I am looking up, not down)
Barnet. W 3 D 1 L 3 PTS 10
GAS. W 5 D 1 L 1 PTS 16
I know they've had potentially tough matches, but we've both played teams back to back (Grimsby, Eastleigh and Halifax) and mostly have been compared as a stronger team (out of the two) by opposition fans.
We have every reason to be confident as head into the final, formative few matches..

whats the point in looking what has been and gone, because Barnet are still top, lets look at the future seeing as there is only 7 games left, Barnet's next 4 games are against 21st, 20th, 22nd and 23rd. Those 3 games they lost were against 4th 5th and 14th. After the next 4 games theres only 3 left (not long)
During those 4 'easier' games rovers have 18th, 3rd, 11th and 12th. Rovers drop any points and the fight will be 1000x harder for you guys

What's the point of looking at those teams' positions in the table? That's just based on their previous results, that's been and gone, its how they do against Barnet in the next few games that matters.

Fair point. We'll just have to wait and see then Indeed. Bloody Time, only flowing one way, selfishly refusing to let us move backwards and forwards at will. Stupid causality. In the meantime, just for fun, we could speculate and attempt to predict based on historical information.

Indeed, lets look at the records, the league table might be a good place to start Indeed, but of course teams change over the course of a season. When speculating, people often look at a selection of the most recent matched played, which you might call 'form'. You want enough games to reduce random fluff, but not so many that you are looking at games where the team might have been playing differently. 6-10 games are often used as the selection.

Indeed, however form can become futile once a season is over, except however the unfortunate (maybe fortunate) circumstances of a play-off situation.
Form is a statistic that can be broken down into many other forms, who and where. It is used to make a judgement on forthcoming games, maybe a more detailed look at form should be used in theses circumstances.

And as you get to the business end of the season you get a better sense of how teams cope with pressure. Macc and Grimsby are playing catch up and would probably be happy to secure a play off place so a different kind of pressure to Barnet and Rovers. I think we might have a better idea of who is up for the challenge after this weekends fixtures.

Normally of course at the wrong end of the table, not something we are proud of as you'd imagine but something we are very used to. No one can doubt are previous successes on end of season pressures.

You could say that they have form indeed But your previous successes mean nothing in this context unless you still have exactly the same players and management in place, surely the only constant would the barnet fans themselves?

Very true, Back to the title of this thread, form. The form on here is being shown through games in stretch of 6 games ago, when Barnet where having a dip. Quite recently Barnet and Rovers seem to being playing the same teams, ie Eastleigh and Halifax. In respect Barnet picked up 4 points whilst Rovers only "just" picked up 1

In recent weeks Barnet's form would look to be improving whilst I believe Rovers is more in question.

In recent weeks Barnet's form would look to be improving whilst I believe Rovers is more in question. But it would be hard for any team to build on 5 straight wins, you get cocky and under estimate teams. 2nd 45 against halifax we showed the form needed to get us over the line. If you want to rule out recent history then we could narrow it down to the last 7 minutes of game time! That means rovers won 2-0 and barnet lost 1-0! Let's not be pedantic about this. We are top of the form table, have slashed your 11 point lead and are comfortably placed to pounce on any mistakes barnet make. UTG
