I thought that DC Said he hoped to have another signing by the end of this week but it's very silent about it on here. Anybody heard anything.

I thought DC was in Greece? NH said there maybe another signing this week. Perhaps they thought Salisbury's position would have been sorted yesterday.

Forgive me if I am in the wrong but I seem to remember a very long thread with people "celebrating" the signing of Sweeney from Hartlepool only last week.
Did I miss something and he has signed ?

Perhaps he's watching some of the Iranian players on the telly over the next 2 weeks.

Ever time I look on the official Conference web site; I see loads of players being signed by virtually ever other club in league. Today Gateshead signed four players. If Clarke is so in touch with this level of football with a "big budget" why is it he appears to be struggling to sign the 14 players needed to take us straight back up next season ?

Hang on a minute...yes we have no scouts, but at least we're not signing every player who's agent is pitching them to sign for us. Plus he had two successful pre-seasons (out of two) at the level below our current league...you can say he's not ready to make the step up, you can say he's screwing up his first pre-season, or you can say the club is screwing his preparations...but you can't say he's not very experienced (or successful) at this area of football management...

He actually said that apart from 1 or maybe 2 He would sign the rest in the last 2 weeks in June.
But don't let facts get in the way of a pathetic whinge.
That's not aimed at you Dave.

Really? He's got into the Conference (from both ends now) but has yet to get out of it. Don't get me wrong, I hope he's a brilliant manager for us, but I'm not about to get too excited...

Not a criticism of him, the club has no scouts

Really? He's got into the Conference (from both ends now) but has yet to get out of it. Don't get me wrong, I hope he's a brilliant manager for us, but I'm not about to get too excited... I've said this before about players on various forums, this is the first time in recent years that I've said it about a manager....why can they not get experience with us? There are two obvious answers - the weight of expectation (but that's only media or fan 'hype', a good manager at the level below us or a future great manager at levels above us can deal with both easily) or the fact that they either can't manage up or manage down...well we've tried experience (JW, Mark McGhee) and it hasn't worked. We've tried 'up and coming' (Paul Buckle). Now we're trying a manager who is up and coming, success under his belt and who has been the number two for 8 months.... I'm not saying he's the magical answer, but I am saying who else would be better (and would take it) and why can't DC launch a fantastic managerial career with us (and obvious answers about the board/setup/wages also apply to any 'more experienced' manager too)...
