What a very very very ordinary signing! Clarke really knows how to persuade in his sphere of influence i.e. 50 miles radius of Salisbury. As WCG says, Clarke has now delivered! Think Easter was more than 50 miles away, Monkhouse was more than 200 miles away. You need to get an Atlas, Vaughan

But he knew Easter and Monkhouse as team-mates from Hartlepool.
Keep picking away, but the issue is a much wider one and discussed in another thread.
DC's loan signings have been poor IMO and it possibly / probably demonstrates what I have been banging on about for years - our scouting network has been very poor.
No excuses as we have the likes of Lindsay Parsons, Steve White, Kenny Hibbitt (who spotted Carl Saunders BTW) who could all do a very professional job as Chief Scout , allied to a wider base of volunteers. This should be a BOD appointment, not a DC decision.
Some of you love to misconstrue everything as DC bashing. I'm a great believer after 40 years that the quality of who you put out on the field is far more important than who is stuck in the dug-out (see revolving door) and there is a science, a better way (with some expense) available to achieve this.
The originator of the thread is the worst for this. Ward was anti-Christ, DC the new Messiah this and nothing in-between.
I would recommend a trip for BOD to St Mary's and then to meet the Chairman of Swansea. That might shock them into proper review of footballing matters. We can't emulate every technique or role because of our means - but it might open their eyes to professionalism in 2015,

We can't emulate every technique or role because of our means - but it might open their eyes to professionalism in 2015, I suggested this a couple of weeks ago, but it didn't get too much support from anyone. But to me it is an obvious way forward as Lindsay Parsons still lives in Bristol, and he has a proven wealth of knowledge and expertise both in coaching and a knowledge of players from all levels which would be invaluable to us. He made his living for many years in divisions higher than ours ever were, so he must have something about him. I have read that his knowledge of players is ''encyclopedic,'' which means that we could possibly have made use of him in the last transfer window. The only problem that I can see, might be to get him interested in throwing in his lot with us.

What makes people think that ex players, like those mentioned above, would want to work for Rovers and if they have ever been asked? And if they have said no? Quite a few bridges have been burned long before Nick Higgs took over regarding former players. It's obviously a good idea but its not happening for a reason.

I don't know Nick Higgs personally but I know a hell of a lot of damage was done long before he took the reins over. lets be honest,he took over a sinking ship and has paid the price more than anyone.

Along with some other poison in the board room he underestimated the club as a whole and soon discovered what Bristol Rovers was all about!!

Not sure what poison he had in the boardroom but he saw enough to want to take control of the club and own over 50% so the decisions are his and he can't blame anybody else other than Lennie and John Ward apparently.

The bloke gives a direct, keen and optimist interview to Rovers and then I read the snide and demeaning broadsides we have on this site. What a contrast. Welcome to the club young man, sorry it's peppered with so many sneering nincompoops. You are surely missing the point the posts have nothing to do with the player himself just that DC/MS promised that they'd sign players who could improve the starting 11 then they sign Dawson, who's hardly played, and Wakefield who couldn't even get into mid table Torquay's side. In some way i'd sooner we give the likes of Dom thomas game time at least we are bringing on our own players Droitwich - Dawson was a stand out player whilst on loan at Nuneaton - is contracted to a Premier League club. Wakefield DID get in the Torquay side that started the season like a train - involved in something like 16 matches & is contracted to a club knocking on the door of the Prem. I think both are good additions to an already decent Conference squad. If you think Dom Thomas is more ready than these two lads you are very wrong!

Interesting, no matter how many players Clarke brings in on loan, the majority spend their time on bench. From what I saw at Dartford last week, when Dawson eventually came on, looked sharp and put in the shot which the goalkeeper fumbled for the goal scored by super Ellis, who in my opinion, must start, over hapless Blissett, against the Imps on Saturday. Matt Lund never set the world on fire but has found his level and is now well thought of at Rochdale.Wish we'd signed him so let's give the new guy every chance and please DC give Dawson 90 minutes as he can provide some much needed quality.

If you were a young, tech savvy footballer with plenty of time on your hands, I think you probably would be interested in what was being said about you. So yes, I would imagine he would read this forum now. From that point of view, I've often thought whether many posters on here or other forums would be willing to state there opinions face-to-face.

You really think that a professional footballer would bother to find out what some random fans thought of him?
Do you not think, if they all did that, some would actually post?
They have twitter for all that.
