Ridiculous.
We won't even get close to 1100 up there.

Crazy decision to make it all ticket, one of the furthest away trips this season and a stadium with one of the biggest away capacities in the leagues. An away crowd of probably 650 to 850 will now be down to the 300 mark. Grimsby chucked a good few thousand of quid down the drain with that decision.

Yeah - that is a bizarre decision. I was 50/50 whether I'd go because it's such a long way from even my Northern base. But I'm not going to bother now; far too much hassle for something I'm not going to be certain I can definitely make till 2 days before.
Can only assume that the issue is at their end - ie they reckon they'll get a big crowd. Hard to fathom really though given their average attendance and highest attendances over the last few years. Maybe we should take it as compliment - clearly we're a massive draw!

Same. Was thinking about going, but with other commitments can't make a decision till probably the day before. Oh well. We'll be lucky to get 500 up there.

The police may have insisted ... the game on the 1st day of the season was preceeded by some disorder after Grimsby 'lads' made there way down gloster rd away from the ground towards the vic.... by making it all ticket they will have a clearer indication of Rovers tavelling support and potential 'risk' group fans

I walked past a fat 40/50 something with blood coming from his head on the glos rd. Sadly, as others have said, it will kill the away support. AT takes the spontaneity out of life. Not everyone can plan the perfect weekend weeks in advance. And it's Valentine's day, so some lads will be hoping for some hot action instead of a long trip and smelling of fish.

Sure that's the right way round there?

Nope, said Grimsby chaps were drinking in the welly and looking for bother and were told to head in the direction of the vic if they wanted trouble by a local in the welly , no police presence to stop them so they took the unwise decsion to take a stroll down the road and bit off more they could chew i believe

When old bill caught up to 'em I heard one say to him 'you wanted trouble and you got it'. It looked like he was going to burst into tears. Apparently they did this a lot last season, a few "boys" would have a go at anyone, they weren't met with much resistance, this time though...!!

I doubt the good Samaritans knew he was a mug [that was my Danny Dyer impression]. certainly old enough to know better! took a battering. his chips were up. got a very cod welcome.

I think a combination of what happened at Woking and the trouble on the opening day has led to this decision being taken. It's stupid really as we were never going to come close to selling out but we'd have no say in the matter.
Cynically-speaking, perhaps Grimsby don't mind losing out on potential revenue from travelling Gasheads who will no longer make the trip as they will feel the atmosphere will be more beneficial to them. I'm not saying we'd have out-sung them even if it wasn't all ticket, but I guess they'd rather keep the vocal backing we provide to an absolute minimum considering both clubs are in direct competition?
