Either.... We'll get compensation from Sainsbury's, pay the debts off, the spivs will sell up and we'll be at the Mem in the lower reaches of the football league Or... We get the Compo, Higgs will sell up but the only bidders are current board members, we sell, and 1980s saviour Geoff Dunford plunges the club into trouble again, to the sound of his loyal morons praising him in the background. did we not pay his small loan off recently We did bit I think he genuinely thinks he was the source of all that's good for the club and that others have led us here. He'll want a crack at runninh the show again.

I always regard myself as a slightly pessimistic realist which is boring - so: UWE in L1 or higher for me.

I lost much if my hope regarding UWE but not about the new team and squad building prospects, so it's L1 at the Mem for me.

To get back to the question (Where will we be in 5 years time?), I believe that whatever division (or League for that matter) that we are competing in, or whatever stadium we are playing in, then we will continue to muddle on through in our own inimitable style. Because it's what we do, and have done so for as long as I can remember, even during the infrequent ''good'' times. Our particular leopard is totally incapable of changing its spots, and only a completely fresh start with new ideas and initiatives at Boardroom level, acting under the watchful eye of a new owner will give us any chance of pulling the ship round . . . and away from the proverbial rocks.
And the chances of any of that happening is slim to zero.

I think we really have to think of life without the UWE now - and hope that staying at the Mem and redeveloping is viable. The UWE was an ambitious project which looks increasingly like it will not be delivered. I'm not a pessimist - I am a realist. Out of interest has anyone heard anything from the UWE recently? I can't think of any quotes from them over the last 6 months (and possibly a lot longer). I heard from a former senior rugby player that the UWE went cold over the partnership when the rugby club upped and left for the red scum. The UWE ideal was a Football and Rugby centre of excellence - and was not just Football. Just wonder if anyone has heard the same. I'm a Realist as well... When the UWE Falls through and whatever money we get from Sainsbury becomes available, that will go to the directors to pay the loans off and they will then jump ship as fast as they can, leaving us with a run down stadium and no money to do anything Hi Henbury, you were telling us all was fine and to have faith a few weeks ago. Was that just hope or do you flip flop quite a lot?

Interesting that only about 1 in 4 think we'll be at UWE.
irrespective of whether that's proved right or wrong - and one of the biggest cock ups of the lot - there's huge discounting of the club's official line by its supporters. For the general health and well-being of the club, that credibility gap needs to be addressed because it doesn't sit well with 'keep the faith' and other intangibles in the relationship between a football club and its supporters.

This isn't scientific, but I do find it interesting that the vast majority voting for Rovers being at the UWE suggest that we will be in L1 or higher. On here and gaschat the option of playing at the UWE yet being in the Conference or L2 seem not to be considered barring a few. Whereas most saying that we will still be at the Mem suggest that we will be in L2, far fewer suggesting that we will be higher up the league. A few have voted for Rovers being out of business, but unless I've missed it I haven't seen many explanations of this view. I'm of the opinion that the "credibility gap" you describe is just normal scepticism from those of us that have lived through so many false dawns before. If the question was where would you like to be in 5 years time, it might reveal a different story.

I'm sort of in one of those categories: I aimed for L2 at the Mem, mis-targeted with the digit, and before I knew it had voted L1 at the Mem! Actually, that would have been second choice: we've got a good manager and if he can build a squad good enough to get into the league, getting into L1 shouldn't (despite our 1 in about 12 record) be too hard. It's getting the basics of that that we've usually hugely failed on. Assuming he's kept, of course.

A re-branded as Trym Gas. Funny. Not taking the p*ss. Just finding humour where I can find it. All part of being a Gashead.

I voted in L2 at the Mem but how about this for an elsewhere, playing in red at SGS and re-branded as Bristol Academy M.F.C? I mean it's already happened once!
