www.bristolpost.co.uk/Steve-Yates-set-bigger-role-Darrell-Clarke-s/story-21206656-detail/story.htmlSeems like the back room staff are going to have to be much more hands on this year. Of course that was always going to be the case with relegation but it's nice to see Yatesy getting a bigger roll. Also two points from the article. Stewart is identified as being the assistant manager (I have no idea if this is the EP being sloppy) and Naylor is still here as GK coach (there were doubts about the position, so that's good news)

I always thought once Ward went Stewwie would step up as assistant manager. I'd assume Yates will take some drills and the like around the training pitch, maybe not 'first team coach' but more of a trainer like the good old days.

Bert Tann looks a lot like my dad, apart from the slightly scruffy undone buttons look. I always think it's funny how everyone looked the same in those days.

I always think it's funny how everyone looked the same in those days. I presume you're referring to MR Tann Players in the 1950s and early 1960s were all hewn from granite. No such things as ligaments and metatarsals in those days. If you got injured a rub down with the magic sponge was all you needed and you carried on. A good old shoulder charge on the keeper gave us a good few goals too. And yes Mr Tann ruled the team with a rod of iron. Happy days.

Joe Davis - great fellow 7 Harold Jarman 8. Ian Hamilton 9. Alfie Biggs 10. Geoff Bradford 11. Bobby Jones what a team!! Mostly Bristol lads too.

What a team.....but, back on subject I bet Stevie Yates could give a lot of advice defensively. As I walked out of the men after Mansfield he came over to pick the kit up and he was muttering under his breath and looking right peed off. I can imagine he was thinking what have these ***** done to the team I played for!

Steve Yates was not only a fantastic player, but is definitely able to contribute to the coaching. You could just see him before every game last season itching to be more involved.
