Are they Wycombe in disguise?

Still can't understand how they can appeal against the penalty having admitted to the crime, regardless why aren't the 3 pts deducted and then reinstated should the appeal succeed?

Doesn't make much difference when the points are taken off really. I believe they maintain the league should have used their discretionary power to replay the game. They seem to misunderstand the meaning of 'discretion'

I am surprised at the 'yet' in the original post. A league table is only of any importance at the end of the season.

That's not true as without a league table no team would know if they were top or bottom until the end of the season?

If they do get points deducted I'm sure Lee Hughes has a couple he can lend them...

I must of missed some news, why have they having 3 points deducted? Ineligible player I think? forgot to register a player who joined them the previous season, when new season began - and compounded error by playing him again after being told of the breach before sorting the error out. In appealing they are risking penalty being 6 points not 3, in very slight hope that they get off with a fine or such like (actually asked for game to be replayed!)

Now that's above and beyond careless administration, right?

I'm pretty sure it was Danny Coles that was ineligible.

The Football Conference confirms Forest Green Rovers FC....
....has lodged an Appeal with the Football Association against the Competition’s decision to deduct three points from the club’s league table score for fielding an ineligible player on 9th August 2014.
No adjustment to the league table should be effected until the Appeal procedure is exhausted.

I still can't understand why football authorities come down so hard on clubs who make minor admin errors, meanwhile Wycombe just get a warning for what seems a similar "oversight".

I really don't think that what FGR did in playing Luke Oliver, who was not properly registered to play for them, can be seen as being a ''minor admin error.'' Add to that the fact that the club gained 3 points from that game, despite fielding the ineligble player, together with the fact that they have previously admitted the offence, then their offer to replay the game looks a tad ridiculous. What is this, commit the offence, plead guilty and then demand to set your own punishment? I should be interested to know the grounds of their appeal. They should be charged again, this time with time-wasting.

Agreed, my wife is registration secretary for her county women's league, and even at that grassroots level if you play a player who isn't registered properly, the 3 points gets turned over every single time.
