Sorry if I've missed this, but was there any press/media output from this? Obviously hoping that he was going to announce that he had rejected the Carstairs approach out of hand, but have not heard anything. Any offers? www.1001forums.com

Obviously hoping that he was going to announce that he had rejected the Carstairs approach out of hand, but have not heard anything. Any offers? From the o/s . . . Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport meets with Nick Higgs
The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport visited the Memorial Stadium this afternoon, as part of a tour of Bristol.
Sajid Javid met with Charlotte Leslie and Nick Higgs to discuss the plans for the new UWE Stadium and associated developments.
The Minster expressed a great deal of interest and support for the project and the £200 million of investment it will bring to the local area.
The Chairman spoke with him at length about the cost to the club and its partners of the delays from the JR and English Heritage appeals and the knock on effect this has had on timescales.
Nick outlined to him that although the club still aim to start building this year, it is now unlikely the stadium will be ready for the start of the 2015/16 season.
Everyone at the club would like to thank Mr Javid and Charlotte Leslie for their support on this issue.
We hope to bring you more news on the stadium project in the next few weeks.

Thanks brizzle..............am I the only one who is waiting for the official word that the SOS has rejected Carstairs appeal? I'd hate to think that he left the Mem for a chat and a cup of green tea with Carstairs in the staff common room at the Uni

We had dealings in his brief period at the Treasury.
Despite having completely the wrong political views, he was a 'just do it' kind of man and swept aside a lot of red tape and made quick decisions just to move stuff along.Very impressive man.Straight to the point and completely engaging. Probably why he was moved on relatively quickly so he didnt make Osborne look a chump.
He'd have me worried about Tory's wining elections if he was their leader. Hopefully he will deliver good news as soon as his civil servants allow.

He just said on Points West that he came from Easton and grew up a Gashead.... I hope that this doesn't constitute grounds for (yet) another appeal.

Weird, for an ex-banker, he doesn't seem to understand what free-market capitalism is.
