It's also refreshing to have a manager who credits the players rather than himself. It's been a while ...

Match Stats - BRFC 2 Charlton 1 - Possession: 51% - 49% - Shots: 15-11 - On Target: 5-4 - Corners: 7-4 - Referee: Neil Hair - Attendance: 9,143
Report by PA MediaVeteran striker Chris Martin came off the bench to secure victory for Bristol Rovers over Charlton with a stunning double - including a stoppage-time winner - at the Memorial Stadium. Charlton began brightly and Alfie May almost opened the scoring after two minutes but his curling shot thudded against the crossbar with goalkeeper Matthew Cox well beaten. But Rovers gradually gained the upper hand and served a warning of their growing threat when defender Tristan Crama's goal celebrations were cut short by an offside flag just before half-time. Daniel Kanu wasted a glorious chance to hand Michael Appleton's Addicks the lead before Martin showed him how to finish. The 35-year-old former Scotland international put all his guile and experience to good use to break the deadlock after 68 minutes, volleying in following good work by Aaron Collins just 12 minutes after entering the fray. Slobodan Tedic levelled for Charlton with a clever near-post finish following fellow substitute Tyreece Campbell's cross after 85 minutes. But Martin had the final say four minutes into stoppage time when he was left unmarked to thump home Collins' cross from close range to take his tally for the season to six goals. i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9003226.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200/0_3533518.jpg

Bristol Rovers player ratings as the Gas secured another 2-1 victory with a late goal against Charlton Athletic..By Daniel HargravesMatt Cox - 7 Again some good claims and distribution with a couple of saves to make. Can be pleased with his contribution but will be frustrated with losing the clean sheet. James Wilson (off for Luca Hoole 72') - 8 Bristol Rovers operate so much more efficiently as a unit with the experienced defender. Another cool, calm and collected performance from the 35-year-old. Connor Taylor - 9 Running out of positive adjectives for this man. Silky on the ball as always and made some big challenges. Will be kicking himself that he didn't work the goalkeeper in the second half from Harvey Vale's free-kick. Tristan Crama - 9 Majestic on the ball at times. Really impressive performance from the young centre-back who is enjoying a brilliant spell in the side. Unlucky to see what would've been his first goal ruled out in the first-half. i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9004597.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_GettyImages-1642428215-1.jpgLuke Thomas - 8 Worked incredibly hard all game and had some really bright spells going forward. This wing-back role suits him to a tee. Sam Finley - 8 The captain's highlight reel will show some outrageous long balls in another but, more importantly, worked tirelessly for the cause as Grant Ward (off for Josh Grant 90+6') - 9 Ran the show in the middle. Just like in the reverse fixture and, in fairness, the vast majority of his performances this season, the midfielder was everywhere. Picked up the ball when it needed to be recycled and put in a challenge where needed. Harvey Vale - 8 Really lively going forward and never avoided a challenge at the back. A bit more composure and we certainly would've been talking about a goal. Antony Evans - 8 Classy as always in the middle. Absolutely vital for this Bristol Rovers side to keep them ticking in attack. Aaron Collins - 9 Credited with the assist for Chris Martin's goal which is the least he deserves after another showman performance. No doubt the Welshman will want to get himself back on the scoresheet as soon as possible but he's still providing and, if not already with that contribution, is closing in on top of the assist chart in League One with that his eighth. John Marquis (off for Chris Martin 56') - 6 Really unlucky, just didn't get the rub of the green at all. Was played through on two occasions and was flagged for both, the first was clear but the striker had a real claim for the second. Still worked his socks off and got a bit of stick from the travelling fans being ex-Millwall. Substitutes:Chris Martin (on for Marquis 56') - 10 Scored the vital goals from the bench to win the game, exactly what he was brought on to do. Luca Hoole (on for Wilson 72') - 7 Won a corner with his first touch. Put in an excellent shift on the right. Josh Grant (on for Ward 90+6') - N/A Came on too late to make an impact.

Two of us flew back from the Frome to the Lee today, or the three of us would have attended tonight. You must have had a great Friday night at the Memorial Ground.

When she was just a girl, she expected the world But it flew away from her reach So she ran away in her sleep and dreamed of Para-para-paradise, para-para-paradise, para-para-paradise Every time she closed her eyes When she was just a girl, she expected the world But it flew away from her reach and the bullets catch in her teeth Life goes on, it gets so heavy The wheel breaks the butterfly, every tear a waterfall In the night, the stormy night, she'd close her eyes In the night, the stormy night, away she'd fly And dream of para-para-paradise Para-para-paradise Para-para-paradise She'd dream of para-para-paradise Para-para-paradise Para-para-paradise La-la-la-la-la-la-la La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la And so lying underneath those stormy skies She'd say, "oh I know the sun must set to rise" This could be para-para-paradise Para-para-paradise This could be para-para-paradise (Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh) This could be para-para-paradise Para-para-paradise This could be para-para-paradise (Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh) This could be para-para-paradise Para-para-paradise This could be para-para-paradise (Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh) Source: LyricFind Songwriters: Brian Peter George Eno / Christopher Anthony John Martin

Chris Martin (not the player but the semi-musical posh lad) and co heard Radiohead and copied it, but without including any of the angst and musical theory that Yorke, Greenwood, et al made so interesting in the 1990s. Coldplay are an insult to music.
The footballer did well, mind.

I don't understand how they have become so big, it's just bland rubbish, although I've probably just answered my own question. I don't see any Radiohead Influence though.

I don't see any Radiohead Influence though. Influence is too flattering. Coldplay and their record company saw Radiohead's success and made a bland copy for older MOR folk, bereft of all the edge and interest. Coldplay is Radiohead with all the Radiohead removed.

Strangely some accuse Muse being a Radiohead copy and I can't see that either. Maybe it's the Devonian accents confusing some. Geddon me ansom.

That's four wins in a row against Charlton who, if they were vaguely competently run, would be at least a mid-table championship side. Not that long ago they were in the PL with the likes of Scott Parker and Darren Bent under Alan Curbishley, who I think would have been in the running for the England job at some point, if the issues around the end of his reign at Upton Park hadn't ended his managerial career.
I think Charlton will need 2-3 seasons before they can look at returning to the 2nd tier.
We are not only competing with, but turning over clubs like Charlton, Bolton and Portsmouth, which is a real achievement that should be celebrated.

Thanks for the warm feeling. Now I feel bad. Great live apparently. They performed at the Radio 1 big day out at Powderham Castle a few years ago and I left as soon as they appeared on stage. No matter how much I tried to ignore the noise, I could still hear them from Starcross railway station. Biffy Clyro were bloody brilliant mind.
