We have played Ipswich Town 44 times, W16, D10, L18, Biggest win 1-5, loss 1-6 & 6-1 and there have been two 3-3 draws...
Ipswich Town were founded in 1878 are known as the Tractor Boys and play at Portman road which has a capacity of 29,673..
Manager Kieran McKenna is 37 and played at Enniskillen Town United, Ballinamallard United and Northern Ireland at U19 & U21 levels..
The club's main rivals are Norwich City and when the two teams meet it is known as the East Anglian derby..
Mick Mills holds the record for appearances 737 and Ray Crawford is their record goalscorer with 218...
Managers of note have been Scott Duncan, Alf Ramsey, Bobby Robson, John Lyall, George Burley, Mick McCarthy out of 29 permanent managers.. Bobby Robson managed the club for 709 matches, with a win rate of 44.6%...
Again like Portsmouth this will be tough, but as it is a cup match it's a one-off and we could win this one if we commit like on saturday...

"and there have been two 3-3 draws"... and I was lucky enough to be there for one of them. One of my favourite ever games. First game of the season at Twerton in the early 90's. Rovers go 0-3 down and it's all looking a bit grim at HT and worries about what the season will bring. Cue a Rovers onslaught in the 2nd half and they got it back to 3-3. Into extra time and Devon White has a chance to nick it 4-3, but just misses. Ipswich went on to win the Division (I think). Their manager said Ipswich had looked comfortable throughout the campaign, barring 45 minutes at Twerton Park at the start of the season. Well that's how my memory remembers it anyway...

Rovers playing out from the back but the Ipswich high press is giving us all sorts of problems.
We'll need to change something if we want to compete in this game.

Ipswich bring on a £1M substitute.
How can we compete with that?

Ipswich Town 2-0 Bristol Rovers - Gas knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Championship side..by Daniel Hargravesi2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article8666746.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200/0_ipswich1.jpgBristol Rovers were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Championship side Ipswich Town, losing 2-0 at Portman Road with Saturday's excellent display at Portsmouth a distant memory already. The Gas struggled to get into the game and were behind after 12 minutes as Jack Taylor converted from close range with the visitors lucky to go into the break just one goal down. Andy Mangan's side came out more spirited with the presence of John Marquis, who came on for Scott Sinclair, but failed to land a decisive blow with Ipswich substitute Sone Oluko doubling the hosts lead late on. Andy Mangan hails 'positive performance' after Bristol Rovers' Carabao Cup defeat at Ipswich..i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article8666800.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_Mangan.jpgAndy Mangan has praised his Bristol Rovers side after a 2-0 defeat away at Championship side Ipswich Town in the first round of the Carabao Cup, hailing the performance as 'positive.' The Gas coach, filling in for banned manager Joey B***** for the second time, made just three changes to the starting line up that drew 1-1 at Portsmouth in League One on Saturday as defenders Connor Taylor and Tristan Crama as well as winger Scott Sinclair came in. A disappointing first half from the visitors, which saw them concede to Ipswich's Jack Taylor, was improved on in the second period but Rovers struggled to find the killer pass or strike as substitute Sone Aluko doubled the hosts' lead late on. Speaking to BBC Radio Bristol after the match, Mangan said: "Obviously the result could've been better. Being beaten 2-0, two crosses coming in. But I thought the performance for periods was really, really positive. We're into an eight week cycle at the moment where we've decided to change the way we play a little bit. "We've decided that we can be a little bit more efficient but there are so many positives, we've just got to be better in certain areas on the counter. Mentality wise, when obviously Ipswich had the ball. I believe our shape at times was really difficult to break down. Our lads have got to trust the process and be confident in those situations. All in all, apart from the goals, a positive performance." The Gas coach opted to bring on experienced striker John Marquis for Sinclair at half-time, a decision he admitted he had to wait to make. "If we do it [make the change] first-half then they're able to react and change their shape so it can affect ours so sometimes you have to wait until half-time," Mangan added. "They come out and it takes a period of time to react and I believe that worked. "We had more chances in the first period of the second half. Like I said, we've just got to be better in those moments. But loads of positives. I thought we played ever so well. I thought we were brave on the ball. I think the lads have taken all the information on and there are positive signs. I think we'll be really good this season." Once again, Rovers showed promise on the counter-attack as they did at Portsmouth, but couldn't convert their breaks forward into a goal. "It's work on the training ground," Mangan said. "It's that belief when you're going in that you're going to score. We've got goal scorers in the team. We've got flyers in the team and we're going to be able to soak up pressure against teams like this and be able to hit them on the counter. "It's up to us, it's up to the lads, to make sure that when they get in there, they're deadly on the Saturday. You just have to practice. We've got lads who can score. We've had a load of counter attacks on Saturday against Portsmouth which we've shown them and we'll show them tomorrow when we get the lads in. "The counter-attacks that we've had today, even at 2-0 down, [if] one of those chances goes in, teams get nervous. Goals change games as you've seen against us today.

Be interesting to see how they play at home on Saturday because I can't see our fans accepting a counterattacking style there.

Woeful from our keeper for the goal. Hope people don’t get on his back like they did with Balcombe. He has the grand total of 2 senior level games under his belt and is going to make the odd error which leads to a goal as he learns his trade with us. Not surprised at the outcome at all. This game was always a tough ask and progressing would have been a bonus

'Goals change games as you've seen against us today.'
They do indeed Andy. That's kind of the idea.
I'm not too worried about this, as this competition is basically a waste of time for all concerned. None of the PL teams play first teams until the quarter finals.
On the plus side, one more game chalked off before our glorious leader returns to the fray.
