England U20 player.
Hopefully a very good GK ,that will "hit the ground running ".
I've no idea if he's fancied as being our number 1,I assume he's in the running.

Two questions:
1. Does the deal include a stipulation that he has to play a certain number of games? 2. Is he any better than Balcombe?
Makes the decision to loan the latter last season look even more stupid
Think that will cement Belly’s exit from the club so hope he is better than him too

Bristol Rovers to make two Premier League signings as Joey B***** provides transfer update..By Daniel Hargraves.
i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article8625701.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/2_GettyImages-1242379750.jpg Brentford goalkeeper Matthew Cox is expected to join Bristol Rovers on loanBristol Rovers are expected to complete the signing of Brentford goalkeeper Matthew Cox on a season-long loan as well as a Bees teammate of the England U20 shot-stopper. The 20-year-old is due for a medical at the Quarters today whilst Bristol Live understand that a second signing from the Premier League club will be a centre-back and is also expected to be confirmed imminently. Earlier on Monday, Joey B***** revealed to his Twitter subscribers that he expects the club to be busy over the coming days with the 2023/24 League One season less than a fortnight away. Going into his third season in charge at the Memorial Stadium, B***** revealed earlier this month that he would be setting up a subscription service on Twitter, now rebranded as 'X,' to 'unlock the mind of a maverick.' In a post exclusively for subscribers, the Englishman wrote: "Expecting @official_BRFC to do 2 signings in the next 24 hours and hopefully 4 before Chesterfield game on Saturday." The arrival of a new goalkeeper will certainly lead to enquiries from Gas supporters as to what the future holds for current shot-stoppers James Belshaw and Jed Ward. The former’s mistake against Braga, as he passed the ball directly to an opposition attacker, was an untimely error for him whilst 19-year-old Ward could well depart the Mem on loan following the arrival of a fellow young goalkeeper. The Gas previously failed in their approach for Connor Ripley earlier in the summer, as the former Morecambe number one signed for Port Vale. Adding to his squad's defence has been a major priority for B***** after Rovers conceded 73 goals in League One last term. Maritimo defender Goncalo Cardoso played the second half of Rovers' friendly against Braga on Saturday having trained with the club in the Algarve whilst Teo Kurturan was an unused substitute despite having featured in other friendlies for the Gas during pre-season. Former Everton midfielder Tom Davies also trained with Rovers last week but won't be signing for the club having played 19 Premier League matches last term. B***** also confirmed this as part of his subscription service, which will cost fans £4.92 a month to join. The club have made four signings thus far this summer with James Wilson, Jevani Brown, George Friend and Luke Thomas arriving on free transfers from Plymouth Argyle, Exeter City, Birmingham City and Barnsley respectively. Although the addition of Wilson, who won the League One title with Plymouth last season, is seen as a major coup, adding to the defence has been a major priority and even more centre-backs could arrive before the transfer window closes on September 1st. i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article8625492.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/2_GettyImages-1246066585.jpgJames Wilson (left) won the league with Plymouth last season In Friend, Rovers have a player capable of playing as a central defender, although the recent arrival predominantly plays as a left-back. The same applies for youngster Luca Hoole who is known as a right-back but can cover centrally if required.

Well we buggered our season up by loaning and playing Balcombe who clearly wasn’t better than our established no 1 ( he might be in time but certainly isn’t just yet) . Now we have loaned his even younger and less experienced club mate. If cox is the better of the two then why loan Balcombe and why not wait till Cox was available for loan? Why loan him at all?
Feels like another everything on black gamble and we could well be repeating the mistake of last season in fixing a problem that does not exist. If we have signed him to warm the bench and Freisl has signed too then why bother? Surely Ward is good enough to do that?

So to get any further transfer news from the clubs manager we have to pay £4.92 and subscribe to his x channel, am I reading this correctly?
Balls to that.

Belshaw is not comfortable playing the "sweeper goalie" role, but there don't seem to be many goalies that are to be honest, and that includes the PL's and Brazil's top two. This looks similar to last season when we needed extra cover and took in a young loanee rather than spend money on a position that didn't need fixing. I think Belshaw's good for another season, unless of course they have another experienced goalie in mind.

I read Cox has all the 'attributes of the modern gk'.He did win a European Championship U 19s medal with England,so I assume he can do the 'sweeper keeper thing.

While not in favour of this account he has given no information out. When a player signs fully expect the club to announce through various media outputs. Though those in the know will announce earlier on the forums.

Yeah, but he's still only 20 so I can't see him becoming our No. 1 overnight, Bas. But it's a funny old game.

Could be an attempt by the club to take his controversial views out of the public eye and onto Twitter with its limited word count where he will learn the art of keeping it short, sweet and relevant without having to wear his Cambridge spectacles.

A diplomatic attempt to keep him out of sniper range perhaps.

A diplomatic attempt to keep him out of sniper range perhaps. Perhaps. Or yet another example of B***** craving attention. B***** courts controversy. On that, surely we can all agree.

Matthew Cox has not played a 1st team match as of yet, but he has played 18 games for England at U17, 19 & 20 levels.
His honours include the UEFA European Under-19 Championship and the Premier League Cup for Brentford B.
