If say 15,000 Rovers supporters stopped shopping at twatbury's the impact could be huge on their Figures. Let's say 15,000 stop spending £50 a week in their stores this would come to £750,000 and over a year it would be £39,000,000 so it's cheaper for them to carry on with the build! Problem being we all have short memory's and habits are hard to break!

This is true but just goes to show that we could make an impact if we change our shopping habits. I live in Emerson's Green and use sainsburys all the time including fuel so the £1000's I spend in their store will come to a grinding halt.

While boycotting Sainsbury's might make us feel better, the financial impact will be substantially lower if you consider the impact on margins rather than revenues. Also, Sainsbury's will avoid having to make a substantial investment, when they believe that they can get a better bang for their buck elsewhere.

Either you or the Mrs will need an increase in Housekeeping then.

I was told today that Sainsbury have applied to have 3 "Sainsbury Locals" in Bristol, i wonder what reaction they would get from BCC to this ??

I never go to Sainsburys so can't help with this one. I expect that of the 6000 that attend about 1500 of them might use Sainsburys.

I presume they'll take on existing retail zoned property so no problem there, new signage and lighting is governed by statutory requirements which they'll comply with...can't see an issue although they'll probably open the first one south of the river. As far as they're concerned they'll probably expect to pick up as many new customers who support City as they'll lose from Rovers supporters. ps we only use Tesco or Waitrose plus the butcher in the village
