So we've probably all dreamed of that £1bn idea / 8 major promotions / stock market coup / euromillions win, and we've probably thought something along the lines of 'if I had that sort of money I'd build something lasting in the city of Bristol. I'd buy Rovers, write off any debt, fund the UWE stadium, build an world class academy, bring in a competent manager, new players and stick £1m of working capital in the account. This would secure the clubs future and my legacy for 100 years, be throughly fulfilling and earn me the love and respect of thousands'.
But reality is slightly different, even a billionaire like SL is hindered by FFP and the presence of other billionaires, and Higgs's story has been another matter entirely.
Far from taking the club from success to success, his time at the helm has seen 2 relegations and 9 managers. We're out of the football league and we're currently being kept on life support by the money the BoD keep in the club, he's spent years on a stadium project that looks doomed, and he's issued legal proceedings against a major FTSE 100 company who make enough profit to buy Rovers many times over every single day. His name is a euphemism for incompetence, arrogance and idiocy, the fans of the club he set out to transform hate him and it is considered moderate to accept that the club has sunk so low it is better off with him than without him purely because there is no one else.
If that isn't enough, the haunted, sunken look on his face as he evades and lied his way from the 20man interview shows that this game is no picnic and the price of failure is a high one.
That said, new investment is probably the only thing that could ignite some optimism amongst myself and fellow gasheads, so what sort of lunatic are we looking for? Someone willing to walk around Eastville with an open pocket and a target on his back? Would your £bn daydream still involve rescuing the Gas and exposing yourself to that level of scrutiny and stress? For me the only decision would be whether I'd enjoy the glorious life of a wealthy gent in the Channel Islands or get myself a city pad and rub shoulders with oligarchs.

"what sort of lunatic are we looking for?" A similar sort of lunatic to the one who invested in Foret Green, Eastleigh, Fleetwood, Morecombe, Barnet, Leyton Orient, Swindon etc. They seem to be able to find these sort of lunatics, trouble is our Board seems to turn them away! Maybe now things are really bad they may move aside and give someone else a chance.

Apologies, I was thinking of the BT interview.
Yes, a Francesco Becchetti type lunatic would be ideal, however I can't work out why anyone from the FGR or Fleetwood mould would want to relieve Higgs. The history and size of this club is such that whilst a year or two of stability after this fiasco would be a relief, it wouldn't be long before we got bored of being a secure non-league team and started asking what the hell the BoD are doing to get us back in the FL. Whilst it's true that a stable Rovers would be in a very good position to recruit players and an ambitious business person would see the potential of getting us back into the FL, it is also the case that they could pursue that goal at a smaller, more established non-league club whilst enjoying a quieter and a more pleasant life.
The only investor for Rovers is one who is able to dispose Higgs completely and 'stick his hand in his pocket' (a term I hate) in a big way to fund a return to the FL.

I will put a few more details on here when it is completely dead in the water, as you can imagine its subject to a confidentiality agreement, but so very annoying to keep hitting a brick wall.

Why would someone getting knocked back in offering investment have confidentiality agreement's?
