That we are going to get promoted this year?
I've had that feeling in 2007 at the millennium stadium after losing to Doncaster.
In 2014 when we went down against Mansfield.I had that feeling for 6 months before.
2015 in the conference, and 2016 in L2 to do the back to back.
And lastly last season after Joey did his famous interview about him having no doubts about us going up.
And I have that same feeling this season.
We are the entertainer's of L1, 4th highest goalscorers. The fight and character of this side is amazing, along with the fact that they are a very talented bunch. This is a great era to be a gashead. If we get and tighting of our defense then we make the playoffs in my view.
Then we have JB. Not everyones cup of tea, but for me he has been perfect in terms of his management of us since joining. I believe he is going to manage in the premiership one day, and my only hope is that it could be with us. But in order for that we need to grow asap with the stadium situation.
But I get the feeling he really does connect with our club, and get what our fanbase is about and will get us to the championship if not this season, next.

In answer to the o p.....no. I don't share that guy feeling. Yet.
I think most football fans are naturally optimistic that they're team will win, do well and climb leagues. We're on a rich vein of form from the 2022 bounce and fit that mantle well.
JAB has galvanised a squad of players most of whom this forum and Gas had never heard of prior, and created from almost scratch a winning formula, ethic and standard.
That has to be recognised, especially regarding the previous shower.
Fair play to him. Most Gas recognise the hard work put into 90 mins and even though we lose, we never give up and put in those hard miles of running and chasing. We're industrious.
But ... We have a gamesmanship side about us I see as a negative which has crept into our play when I think we're much better than that.
JAB has only achieved to take us back to the place we were when he came in - so, nothing immediately.
Plus, he'll be aware of the infrastructure problems associated with promotion and the resource support behind this in order to take the club forward to seriously challenge for promotion and sustain it.
I love some of the football we've played, it's scintillating at times but I'm not hypnotised by it.....I honestly think if JAB gets a serious offer of a huge management job, he'll walk - and take a whole chunk of his Scouse mafia team with him in one swoop - so, the irony of your gut feeling is: if you get your wish, the heart that has already been ripped out of the club will be exposed because he'll be off and take everything with him.

My gut feeling is that with a couple of quality loan signings pretty soon we could emulate last season. As we are we may scrape into 6th place.

Absolutely spot on and how i feel. I just live in hope, as the usual default position of any Gashead, that we do get a stadium and have a real chance of progress. I have a feeling Joe has real affection for us but

Gut feeling… Is no. Too many big teams with big budgets and vastly superior stadia at this level. If we did it would be Yeovil-esqe for a season or two. Also as others have said, when B***** goes the whole structure will fall like a house of cards.
I cannot emphasise enough how much we are going to suffer mid to long term without that new stadium. It worked 30-35 years ago, but football has moved on and progressed. We’re still on the face of it completely tinpot, but more professionally tinpot compared to the Higgs and Dunford days.

My gut feeling is that we'll be close to being in the mix for the play-offs. May not bag a place, however, it will be a hell of a ride along the way.

Reflects my opinion as well o2. I hope and think we’ll have a good last part of the season, win more than we lose but just miss out on the play-offs. In itself that will reflect a very good season. I was interested to read what you said about ‘gamesmanship’. It has crept in though some will call it ‘game management’ and being professional. My gripe is that if Aaron C had stayed on his feet a few more times when in the box he is talented enough to score or at least get a shot away. As it is I feel he goes down too often and too easily and referees have become wise to it and it actually handicaps us. As you say, we are better than that. The almost opposite with Sam F, he is a great tackler and yet gets penalised unfairly, imo, because of who we are. But credit to JB and his coaching team for making us a competitive team that challenges in League 1. Apart from that Autumn under GC when I was never convinced we’d maintain it, to my mind it’s the most competitive we’ve been in League 1 since the Olly season of 99-00.
UTG!

Wareham.Corfe Veterans play near you and recently gained a sponsorship from the superb 'Oldie' magazine. Yes, I know a couple of those players. Pretty sure the keeper is David Elms a decent non league keeper earlier on. Dorchester Town, Bashley (?) and others. Going back 30/40 years Swanage and Herston T FC used to be backed by someone called Norman Hayward who had been involved in AFCB and in the 80s they were a decent Western League side with decent crowds. Lots of ex AFCB players were attracted over here to play. But once the money wasn’t there they slowly dropped down the leagues. A shame but they are a well run small town club now. Not sure Corfe Castle even had a club then. But a guy who I knew was a total enthusiast and started a youth club side for the youngsters in the village in the 90s and it started from there. Now they both play in the Dorset County League, same division. How times change! Thanks for posting. UTG!

Norman Hayward later became involved as one of the owners at YTFC as we climbed up the league after Jon Goddard-Watts sold his shares. Left two or three years ago after selling to an absolute balloon who has since sold our ground & hocked us into debt. I'd take Norm back in a heartbeat. PS Remember Swanage coming to Yeovil many times in the Great Mills Western League too. The Bournemouth connection was always strong.

Last Season i definitely had a gut feeling that Rovers would do it , even to the extent of going for the kill, in a game that would thrill, emotions would pour and got one over William Hill by getting the correct score Seven Nil
JB made the right call, last night by not risking any star players picking up any injuries on a heavy pitch when it’s very likely to go down the wire again. and after seeing Jeff Sterling, on Saturday, the Sky football anchor raving about the Gas and if he believes then so do I UTG

No chance unless we get a decent commanding CB. Maybe ship Thomas back and find a replacement as he can't play with Connolly and Connolly won't be going anywhere.

Only one game I know but the weakness of our squad was severely exposed. Urgent reinforcements needed this month.

Apart from one poor performance Belly is one of the best keepers in the league and Jaco is a decent back up. Our five plus strikers which up to now have underachieved, but for me possibly the best striker force in the league. If JB can once again do the business again in the transfer window by adding two or three defence/midfielders to the squad. We will then have a great chance of making the playoffs because don’t forget we have an extra player (our fans) What ever happens it’s going to be an interesting ride - UTG

My gut feeling (only based on a few matches I have watched live) is that we are not good enough to get promoted. Attack and midfield seem pretty solid and we look good going forward but the obvious issue is defence. We push a high line which is why we are good in the attacking half but on the counter the defenders are not quick enough and some of the defending is woeful.
I admire the style of playing out from the back and we look our best when doing so but many times I can see too large a gap between defence and midfield which means when pressured we have no option but to play long ball tactics. If we then lose posession it puts our defence on the back foot and midfiled playing catch up. It's why we ship too many goals. Promotional prospects are based on solid defence.

I totally agree a good defence is key to whether we make the playoffs or not. JOEY will need to use all of his BARTONing skills to land the quality players required ito fix our Achilles Heel.
Then it’s Game On!

Looking at the current squad, not strong enough in defence by a mile. Unfortunately, the couple of defenders who were brought in at the beginning of the season, are average at best. I am sure B***** is working overtime to correct this.
Well maybe...
