Link to the website to make a donation: nohomekit.shelter.org.uk/From what JB said post match, it sounds like no one had thought to let Exeter know we were playing in our away kit, and assumed they'd be wearing their red and white stripes: fanbanter.co.uk/gary-caldwell-and-joey-B*****-speak-out-on-farce-bristol-rovers-kit-change-in-7-goal-thriller/?fbclid=IwAR3ojt39CvnkbA_ojBqh8byc-omABNKDqQXoza3WGlgxLZEkzq89Wh-4msEI did wonder, as Exeter came out for the warm up it was clear their shorts and socks were very similar to our away shorts and socks. And sure enough the teams took to the pitch with Rovers wearing a complete mish-mash of the black away shirts, with mint trim, along with royal blue shorts and white socks - it looked absolutely shocking. At half-time the kit man came out to give the subs their home shirts to change into, and Rovers took the field for the second half in full home kit. The first half kit looked a shambles, and the poor communication with Exeter was a bit of a shambles. But I suppose they say "any press is good press", so hopefully it leads to a bit more raised for the charity!

Pathetic.
Nobody at Rovers bothered to check with Exeter what kit they would be playing in. Exeter aren't expected to ask the home side what kit they are playing in as it's always the home kit, but it wasn't.
Someone would have taken a rollicking for this embarrassment. It can hardly help the players state of mind having to wear a mish mash and then change at half time. That and the fact that plenty of fans couldn't work out who had the ball against the colour changing ads.

I suppose if you appoint a 21 year old as your new club football secretary with a "wealth of experience" these things can happen. Leadership at the top yet again exempt from responsibility or any blame, the list is growing though.

I was less than stunned to discover he's from the Wirral.

Just beyond words. Yet another mate and sorry if this offends, think of what you were like at 21. Most, given such a lofty position would want to please his peers. Let’s hope I am very very wrong but this has danger all over it, as I view it anyway. Life experience plays a huge role in decisions made. As for a wealth of experience? Go figure

Go figure I'm willing to give the club the benefit of the doubt on this and assume that this is the greatest 21-year-old secretary the world has ever known who just coincidentally happens to be related to Eddy Jennings or one of his mates.

He’d be on a pittance compared to the one who did it for 20 years. Are things really that bad?

Both teams have to let the league know days before the match what kits they will be wearing. This is to help stop this sort of nonsense. Sounds like a cluster of divs to be honest from everyone involved. Funny mind.

Leadership at the top yet again exempt from responsibility or any blame, the list is growing though. If this situation had happened with the previous secretary in situ, would you have pointed the finger at him? EFL Rules:- 39.5 The Away team will, not less than 7 days before the scheduled match, submit to The League, Match Referee and their opponents the details of the colours of shirts, shorts and socks of all players. In the event that The League requires either Club (Away or Home) make amendments to its selection, the Club will, within 24 hours of receiving the notification of the same, resubmit its selection to The League, Match Referee and opponent. Rovers had to seek permission from the EFL to for permission to wear their away kit (one change per season is allowed, for purposes of supporting a charity etc). Rovers seemed to think that Exeter would be wearing their red and white kit. Either Exeter did not notify the League which kit they would wearing, or, (more likely), the League did not pick up on the clash and flag it up with the clubs, as per their own rules. But, hey, let's blame the new guy because he's a Scouser, and ignore the fact that he wasn't even appointed at the time the kits were required to be sorted out with the League - as it doesn't fit your agenda.

I’ve heard the new Head of Facilities is from Bootle and the new Head of Finance from Knotty Ash.

I'm sorry Bath,I've been a fan since my first game at Eastville in 1967. There is no agenda, I support the club not this regime, I don't have a direct line as you possibly do to the present CEO who is about as interested in Rovers as you and I would be in ingrowing toenails. But I'm pleased to read the good news regarding your health. May I take this opportunity of wishing you a happy new illness free new year

We did it last year too with the green and yellow kit. No problems there at all. Just saying.
The main cock up was playing in black and mint against Exeter’s away kit.

Come back to look. More ill informed nonsense and supposition from the usual suspects. Most of whom don’t attend matches.
Either put up, support Bristol Rovers FC or shut the feck up. It’s just beyond tedium now. There is no conspiracy.

I certainly don't doubt your credentials as a supporter Bondi, apologies if that's how it came across. Thank you for your good wishes, Rovers' fans are a lovely bunch when the chips are down, hearts of gold (or should that be blue and white quartered hearts?) Best wishes for 2023 - hope that it's onwards and upwards for everybody, after the two horrible Covid years we've had.

It sounds as though Jack has been with us for a couple of weeks. In TG's programme notes 'Insider Knowledge' he welcomes Jack, and that would have been written some days before the game to allow for printing and delivery. Tom says: "Jack is the youngest Club Secretary in the country but joins with a wealth of experience and has already had an impact on improving our football administration." Jack's Linked In profile says he's been with us for 2 months, but I think that just counts December and January: uk.linkedin.com/in/jackaltomlinsonSpent the first 4 months of this season as Secretary of Swindon. Previous 2 years at Oldham while studying for a Level 3 Diploma in Business (HND?). The first as a Football Administration Assistant, and the second as Club Secretary. The account is 'jackaltomlinson' - I don't know whether 'A L' are middle initials, or if his nickname is 'Jackal' (from Sanskrit "the howler"), thought in folklore to be wily and wise. Anyway, welcome to Rovers Jack and all the very best for your time here.

JB said that Exeter weren't at fault.
So if they notified us of the strip they were playing in at least 7 days in advance (as per the rules), we were too late in telling them our intentions and/or thought we could just play in that horrible mish-mash anyway. Whatever is was, someone at Rovers dropped a clanger.
In hindsight we should have worn the green and yellow quarters again - just the job under lights.
