He’s was absolutely brilliant again on Saturday, he’s the difference between losing and winning, relegation and Promotion.
That man is our magnificent goal stopper, without whom Charlton would have been out of sight by HT.
Its the strikers that always get the headlines, so I thought I would give him a little mention as to how valued and important he is to us.
Thank You James Belshaw

Agreed, although I wouldn't say unsung, just the hero. Great keeper, which reverts us back to the tradition of having good keepers.

Nice o p and you certainly take a good goalkeeper for granted, as it's when you have unreliability it costs points.

Wouldn’t say unsung (I’d give that epithet to Coutts who does all the dirty work to give our flair players the platform to do their stuff from) but agree he is a bloody good keeper and my motm Saturday. Says it all really that there has been no clamour at all for the return of Jaakola - also a bloody good keeper and think we have real strength in depth in this position. Do wonder though how long our Finn will continue to be content with playing second fiddle. On current form he won’t displace Belshaw. Hopefully Jedward can continue progressing to push the other two on as well

Seemed decades where we had welsh players and some who were very good

He loved it when we called him the lion, he was a bloody brave/lunatic keeper

And Who can forget a another Lunatic Gas Keeper Jim Eadie, who apparently was partial to beers and fags at half time also was known as the 'flying pig'

My favourite because he was the first I ever saw in a Rovers' side is... Bert Hoyle.
He was a lovely man, was Bert.
He used to chat with us behind the goal. The Boy's Enclosure, where I stood (bottom-left of the Muller Rd. end) were full of kids, some given an orange by their mum to throw towards his goal. Bert had told the local press he had a particular liking for oranges. Bert would collect them all up and always leave one single orange in the back of his goalmouth for good luck.
Bert only played about 100 games for us. Sadly he was badly injured in a car crash, which put paid to his career.
FOOTNOTE: There were a number of 'gentlemen' playing for the Rovers in the 50s. Bert was the epitome of that description. Players like him fashioned my (and others) young years to be a life long Rovers fan.

Ok Starter for Ten! - Currently playing for a Championship Club, this young keeper had a spell with the Gas. He is a class act which also applies to his namesake .
First Prize - 2 minute highlights of the Boreham Wood Cup match Second prize - Full 90 minutes of the Boreham Wood Cup match

(Cluese) I know most of you know the answer, but had concerns about that children might miss out the Boreham Wood Christmas boxset which is rapidly running out due to high demand. The keeper in question is Joe Lumley ( who had a excellent spell with us) and the namesake is. the absolutely fabulous Joanne Lumley. UTG

Held it a good while. Great guy to talk rovers with, when Graham Day had the flowerpot RIP
