I will probably be shot down but anyway here goes:
I actually don't think we are too far off being a good enough team other than we are short of a stronger playmaker in the middle someone like Stu Campbell - capable of not only breaking up play but more importantly taking the ball forward with pressure on the opposition - I believe there is good link up play in the final third to bring goals
A John Joe type but without the 'personality' issues !
Thoughts?

Thoughts? I agree a "Disley" type player would make all the difference.

Yes and he has performed well but I think another is required as Mansell spends a lot of time covering for our woeful defence.

Post by harrybuckle on 3 minutes ago we got one LEE MANSELL
Mansell showed leadership qualities but will have to improve on his link up play, to be considered as a strong midfield general

Like others have said, I think we've got (on paper at least at the mo) a fairly decent midfield, where I think we are lacking is up front, all the top teams have one or two players that are capable of deciding matches on one or two moments of class and experience in front of goal, FGR have Lee Hughes, Barnet have McDonald, and, at the moment they're on hot form, our strikers aren't, I think Jamie White just isn't match fit ATM because if he was I think DC would've played him far more, Matty Taylor could be fantastic for us this season, but he needs that first goal, the lad from Cambridge can be our Ryan Brunt up front bringing the other speedier lads into the game, all in all could be a good season of consolidation once we've finished our recruitment, building to next season with a serious challenge maybe!!

If Cunnington or Brunt do not work out then there may be an internal alternative.....Trotman looks difficult to shift off the ball and has a bullet header, play him upfront and switch Lockyer to centre half bringing the lad Leadbitter back in on the right. Well it worked with Gareth Taylor!

i do agree that we could do with a playmaker type in central midfield but hard to find in lower leagues

Thoughts? I absolutely agree that a playmaker is needed in midfield, however I don't agree that's all we need IMO we need another full back and a centre back. The other thing that we need is for DC to decide his best team and formation and stick to it (suspensions and injuries permitting),they wont gel whilst they are being moved around or dropped, another thing is the situation with Harrison either give him a chance or loan him out and theres a few more that could be shipped out too.

I think we have an awful central midfield but this has been a problem for many years. We just need someone who can play a decent through ball to get Matty Taylor in on goal. We also need to pump in a lot more crosses from wide positions.

Thoughts? I wouldn't say that is all we need but yes, it would be a start. I'm also not sure I'd class Campbell as a playmaker.
