It’s not something I’ve ever considered when previously deliberating ‘Bucket Lists’ - and I would hazard a guess neither have most of the Forum.
As I recently commented on the Lincoln match day thread, for me it would be up there with Las Vegas and Japan.
So having thrown this into the mix, I am intrigued, to know whether home and away league fixtures against the *hit would make the Top 3 on your Bucket list?

Well anyway, I hear the Weakest Link is looking for a replacement for Anne Robinson, but only if you resemble Jack Dee chewing a wasp….

I used to enjoy the cut and thrust of derby days, but the last few overstepped the mark regarding behaviour, and I'm not sure if I'd even attend another one (should it happen in my lifetime).

Not personally, no. Understand why some would say yes though.

UTFG None The world is a much bigger place than such narrow, parochial, thinking. Bristol is an interesting city because it combines internationalism and localism very well. In other words, it has managed to engage with the outside world because it has retained a sense of its own identity. Contrast this with other areas of the country (e.g. parts of London) where this local identity has been replaced by a paper-thin cosmopolitanism. The belief that the international is inherently superior to the local is as facile as the inverse. I often note it in those who favoured 'Remain' (such as yourself) in the 2016 referendum - everything 'European' is, by definition, good whereas everything 'national' is bad. Games against our immediate rivals are perhaps the highlight of being a Rovers fan, and are a key part of what it means to be a football fan in the city. There is nothing 'narrow' or 'parochial' about this, and I say that as somebody who has lived in numerous countries and on various continents. By way of illustration, allow me to present you with my 'bucket list'. 1) the 3-0 win against city at Twerton in 1990/1991) 2) the 4-0 win against city at Twerton a few seasons later. 3) The 2-0 win against city at Trashton in the 1996 season. An honourary mention must also go to the 1-1 'last minute Beadle equaliser' at Trashton.

Nicely put and i love a derby match but i have many red friends and i mean true friends so i have no hatred for them, none at all. Having said that, i do get my hackles up whenever we have played them.

The unbelievable buzz you feel in the morning of local Derby, far eclipse say a Wembley final. It starts as soon as you wake (not woke) There’s just no comparison, it’s more nerve racking than nearly anything life throws at you including driving test, getting married, exams and the scariest of rides.
This is the ultimate ‘big dipper’ and for the next ten hours no amount of drugs or drink would get you anywhere this high.
Obviously, you got to get there and after a fried breakfast followed by several few beers in town. You then embark on what sometimes can be quite a tricky little journey as it’s important friends and family all get to the ground in good order. Once you have reached the relative security of a kindred spirit in the form of thousands of fellow gasheads, and whereas you might not always join in the singing, in this environment it’s a case of try and stopping us singing our ❤️‘s out.
The noise generated drowns out the home supporters who look on open mouthed in astonishment taken back by their feisty neighbours.
Low and behold if we were to score it’s like the moment you realise you got six numbers on the lottery It’s hard to put across how utterly euphoric the next few minutes will be, and If the Gas were to actually win the game the warm glow will last for weeks to come.
I hope I’ve painted a picture for those of you who have yet to experience a Bristol Derby as there’s nothing that compares, I can only hope you get the chance - make us dream - over to you JB please finish the job and get us into the Championship.

I'm not sure it eclipses a Wembley final, or for example "The Scunthorpe" game, for me those were the ultimate highs as a Gashead. Having said that, the Lambert goal to win the JPT Area Final was special.
The trouble is though, that the memory fades. It has been so long since we have all experienced a competative Bristol Derby (certainly a league derby - I was at Ashton Gate in 1996 for the Beadle equiliser). I think everyone will be surprised at the emotions felt when the time comes for us to play City again in the league.
Remember that bragging rites at work are at stake, and we have not even been worthy of this for a whole generation.
It is about time we brought back the Bristol derby. For that we will need to get promoted.

Going back to the original post, my bucket list for the Gas are:
1. Playing in The Championship. 2. Winning a cup competition (League Trophy most likely). 3. Beating Bristol City in the league.
That's not where my ambitions for the club end, but it's a good set of medium term goals for a club of our current size.

My bucket list for Rovers is:
1. First game sat in a new, fit for purpose, stadium 2. erm… 3. That’s it
Games against City are great, but only if we win. One of my worst experiences ever was the Louie Donowa game in 91, them breaking a 6 year drought against Rovers. Waking up Ashton Park Road after with them celebrating all around just absolutely sucked.

No. 1 Absolutely impossible unless you’re a ‘man of the cloth’ and can have words with the boss No. 2 Err you make a valid point - The come down from Utopia to ground zero can be very hard to take No. 3 That’s it apart from a mention of Big Mac at Twerton 4-0 - light up the cigars

UTFG You know, i used to feel right up for a game v them but i think maybe that putting it above some of things that you have, is OTT. As for the championship, we are not going to get there, not while at the mem and without serious amounts of money.

As much as I’d love to think we could get there, i cannot see us progressing further, not unless we get someone either invest or take over and really go at it, with the money to do so and stadium fit for purpose. I do love your enthusiasm but, just my opinion, it is the stuff of dreams right now. I will be overjoyed when/if we get enough points, to avoid relegation. My expectations have been significantly lowered.
