Swindon Town have signed former Bristol Rovers and Wales Under-21 defender Cian Harries on a one-year deal.
Harries, 25, joins on a free transfer after being released by Rovers following their promotion to League One on the final day of last season.
The former Coventry City youngster joined Rovers from Swansea City in January 2020 and made 55 appearances, including 16 in League Two last season.
He has also had loan spells at Fortuna Sittard and Cheltenham Town.
"Cian is a player I've liked for some time and played against us last season," Swindon head coach Scott Lindsey told the club website.
"He's a left-footed centre-half that will give us more balance and is an incredibly gifted footballer, so I'm delighted to have him join us and this signing really strengthens us at the back."

The lad probably has the "footballing talent" to be a top level L1/or a championship player. But he is a defender, and when here he didn't show that he could defend at all, so he is very lucky to get the opportunity to prove what he can do in the football league once more. Dispute him signing for Swindon, I wish him all the best and that he can kick on with his career as he still played part in our promotion.

Probably need to improve his defensive play, but he might do well at Swindon.
Remember his volleyed goal early last season?A brilliant strike.

The only volleys I remember (pre March 2021 of course) were the defensive clearances that launched the ball 25 yards vertically and invariably led to the opposition having a goal scoring opportunity. There's probably a better player in there than the one I witnessed. Despite the flippancy, I wish him well.

Apparently some Gasheads not been very pleasant to him. What has happened to the fans of this club. May not feel he's done a great job but really...

Some players do better at a different club, maybe he will be one of them. Good luck CH

Swindon Town have signed former Bristol Rovers and Wales Under-21 defender Cian Harries on a one-year deal. But he is a defender, and when here he didn't show that he could defend at all, ... Too harsh. He was great at "last ditch" defending, often covering across to get a block in when the opposition had got through on goal. I remember, for example, Walsall (a) where his covering saved us points. He repeated that trait in his limited appearances through the season. However, there were occasions where more orthodox positioning and tracking would have prevented attackers' chances, which is where Connolly and Taylor excelled. I bet he's learnt one thing, though; don't delay a throw-in when you're already on a yellow card and the referee is itching to stamp down on game management! [Colchester (a)].

I see that there are some derogatory remarks on one of the FB pages too - empty vessels make most noise.

The Cian volley I mentioned was away at Mansfield.Absolutely top class.

I hope flippancy and banter doesn't get mixed up with outright hatred. As KP says, sadly we're seeing more and more of it.

A defender who can't defend but who is quite good on the ball and who apparently has a lot of technical ability. Why not turn him into a defensive midfielder? Perhaps this is what Swindon have in mind.
Harries is one of those players who 'had potential' for far too long. At some point you have to start realising it.

Disappointed to see some real out of order words from Rovers fans.” any idea who he is referring to? 🙄

I don't use Twitter (or Instagram, TikTok, Facebook etc), so unlikely I would have caused direct stress to Mr Harries. 2. If you think my words are "out of order" or in some way vitriolic, then you must have had led a very sheltered life. But then again you do live around 500BC.

He’s his own worst enemy in my view, undoubtedly talented but continually caught out of position booked in most games and sent off far too often leaving the gaffer short of options while he served too many bans.
