…starts on July 30. Fixtures out on 23 June, the same day as Joey’s supposed next court appearance.

Yes. I knew it started much earlier. All to do with the World Cup in November and December I presume.

Blimey, when I was a nipper learning the game it always used to start the first Saturday in September, it gets earlier and earlier every year now it would seem.

At least we should be at home first game of a season for a change, as it doesn’t clash with the Balloon Fiesta.

Blimey. We’re coming to the important time of the season and people are posting we’ll be in League 2 next season. Pretty negative but fair enough, everyone’s entitled to their views. But we’ve as much chance as others of going up. As the table stands we’d play Northampton in the semis. We are a better team and I’d be pretty confident on footballing terms that we’d beat them, same with Tranmere and Sutton. Then in the final it’s a lottery whoever you play and all about the result. Fingers crossed for Friday and Monday.

Then you have 8 teams vying for the 4 play-off places (though might be a bit of a stretch for Swindle). Rovers are certainly the form team, but as you say, the play-offs are a bit of a lottery. The bookies have us best price of 5-1 to go up. Bookies are not known for their unbound generosity! So, I would say it is more than likely we'll still be in League 2 next year. Obviously I hope we go up. When B***** is gone I want to be visiting League 1 grounds and not League 2.

Perhaps you’re looking at it from a betting perspective and they are usually there or thereabouts. I’m looking at it from a gashead pov and feel we have as good a chance as anybody. That’s not to say we will go up but as a gashead I’m an eternal optimist.😉 UTG! edit: Getting back to the point of the OP. Season starts very very early. Teams unsure about the league they are playing in, play off winners, will have to work quickly and smartly to get their new, better (?) squads into place before the start.

A Gashead and an eternal optimist. A dangerous combination. It's the hope that kills you... I guess as long as clubs aren't overly reliant on loanees going back to their parent Clubs, they should be OK for July 30th.

Yes,I know what you mean. We won’t even have had half the cricket season by that point. But unfortunately when FIFA decide on a winter World Cup the rest of us have to fall in line.👎 UTG!
