You can't predict anyone's injuries, we could sign Ronaldo, Messi & Zlatan and they could all break down before the start of the season. I remember Jeff Hughes playing a reserve game against Cheltenham when he joined on loan, within 7 minutes he was injured it just sometimes happens. Let's not crucify Jamie before he's actually kicked a ball.

White had a good partnership with Charlie Sheringham who is out of contract.

No, that was Yeovil away. We signed Hughes on loan and played him in a reserve game at the Mem. He lasted less than ten minutes. He was signed on a permanent deal from Palace in the summer.

Fair enough, but when a player consistently suffers with injuries down the years (some very serious), it's fair to raise one or two questions. Ability wise, he has quality and could be top scorer at this level in the right team. If he signs, as always, personally I would wish him well and back him on a matchday like any other player.

Sometimes you have to take a punt, as I said a proven goalscorer and we're not that attractive an option right now IMO. You have to gamble sometimes.

Maybe Brunt is going? It's been rumoured. DC is going to have to have players in mind to bring in. Who's to say Brunt won't leave the week before the season starts. The transfer window closes August 31, if that's not a weekend. We could lose a player then, and we'd have to have replacements lined up.

Jamie White would be a good signing for us, reminds me of a young Jamie Cureton. I would have had reservations about signing him if we were in league 2, because i think he needs at least 1 more fully fit season with a big conference club. White, Brunt & Harrold is a decent mix of striker, just need the 4th striker to have a bit of pace.

The Cureton comparison is interesting, there are similarities and i did think that myself in the past. They're different players of course, but are similar in height, movement and finishing ability.

Concord Rangers striker Lewis Taaffe has been handed a trial by Bristol Rovers. Taaffe can also play in midfield, he will spend two weeks with Bristol Rovers on trail when the team returns to training at the end of june. He scored three times in 16 appearances for the Conference South side after signing from Histon in March. He played as a midfielder for Histon and was the teams top scorer before leaving to join Concord. The 22 year old currently works part time as a 4x4 driver Read more: www.bristolrovers.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=360116#ixzz33fmxMoczWho is this guy? Any good? Or is this just b*llsh*t?

We've been missing a player like Cureton/White for too long now, someone with movement, intelligence and a decent poacher in the box. Would be nice to see DC find players with that little bit of genuine quality, pace & desire to do well for us & themselves, rather than just be here for the pay cheque.

He's definitely been offered a trial. 15 goals at Conf North/South from the wing in 13/14 (11 goals for Histon and 4 for Concord). In total he scored 28 goals 129 apps for Histon and 4 goals in 16 appearances for Concord. He might not prove be good enough, but exactly the sort of profile of player we should be looking to trial IMHO. Young, hungry and impressed at a lower level.

It's true as far as I know, the player was interviewed about it last week. We discussed it on the previous Independent Forum but it may not have carried over!

My source told me this morning that DC is looking at LOTS of players from the non league and has a self imposed wage budget of £1000 pw and a larger focus on performance add ons.
From what I understand this is as much an attempt to get young hungry players into the club as it is to of course trim the wage bill.
Starting to like the noises I am hearing coming out of the club. We should all know a fair amount more this time next week.

There are very few players out there without a "history of injuries". Sometimes you have to take a slight gamble. If we can keep him fit then he will be a very good player for us I am sure. Many a player have recovered from worse injuries then this lad has had and gone on to have long healthy careers.
