Gordon Fearnley put Rovers 1-0 up against City in late December 1974, in first League game between us for over 10 years.
We lost 4-1 with all their goals coning in second half - Durrell, Mann, Tainton and Fear.
Terrible weather and terrible day.

I think that match was Dick Shepard’s first match back after his awful injury in the winter of 72/73, two seasons before. Unfortunately a couple of the goals were his fault. Not sure he played for us again. UTG!

The Flying Pig would have stopped 2 of them. Gordon Hill referreed that game btw.

The thing i find strange is that this was the team i grew up with and i cannot ever remember Fearnley. I could probably name the rest of th team but I don’t remember him, not at all He was a kind of super-sub KP. Eventually went to America like a lot of that team and did well in business out there I believe. UTG! Thank you

Met some school friends who were of the Red persuasion after the game and couldn’t bear even talking to them.
